game runs painfully slow

Hello I posted earlier about automating the RAF night bombing raids. I have found that even when I have the messages set to 0 and the time setting on 4 the game runs so slowly that it seems to very nearly stop running. I have a new intel computer with an i7-930 processor and 6 gigs of ram. Could someone possibly tell me how to speed it up? Thanks!

My first guess would be the Direct draw settings. Try changing that in the game menu to the opposite of what it is set to now. Then restart the game from scratch (quit then reload).

If thats no good try the processor core affinity settings and finally try turning the "Show night" setting to off.

You might also try window mode, but personally I have only ever had to change the direct draw emulation setting to fix speed issues.
