Guide me through an airborne drop please

Post by GBS »

I am planing as Germans and want to do a unit airdrop with an airborne unit and can't get it to work. Could someone walk me through this. I have broken down my airborne division into regiments and have one of them stacked at an air base with Ju 52s that have well over the 2000 transportation points. I follow the manual directions but no joy. How is this done?

If your unit has movement point left select it in movement mode, then switch to air transport mode.
The base you are stacked on should be outlined in blue.
Shift Left-Click on the target hex and a menu should show up to allow you to select the air groups to participate in the drop.
Pick the air groups you would like to participate in the air drop and select launch.
Click on the now dropped unit to see how much actually got dropped.

Note the 22nd Air Landing division is NOT air assault capable.  It is intended to be flown into captured airfields not dropped from planes.

That sequence did not work for me.

What other factors or issues should I look at? I get to the shift left click and a parachute appears but no dialog to select air group. It is stationed with the transport airbase and they both have not moved for some time and are in supply. The transports have 0% used range. It is a FliegKorps para unit not the airlanding one.

What am I doing wrong and/or need to do differently? Has anyone successfully done a para drop?

Please assist.

Thanks

I have not tried it, but I think you have to break the div down into regiments to air drop it. I remember reading that somewhere.

I have done a para drop using the procedure listed in the interface section of the manual.

Make sure your transports are set to day missions

Make sure they have more than 2000 load rating

You will need alot of transports. THE MORE THE MERRIER!

When I tested I only used a few transports so... only 30% of the airborne brigade was dropped
