Troop moral

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Troop moral

Post by delatbabel »

Can people please stop saying "moral" when they mean "morale"? It's really starting to tick my boxes.

My troops are moral -- they help old ladies cross the road, don't drink, and don't get into fights.

My troops have morale -- they are brave in the face of enemy fire.

This is a public service announcement in the fruitless search for better English. [:)]

Lighten up Francis, alot of people on this forum are probably either non-native English speakers, or typing something in a game forum without doing a spellcheck. If that's OK with you...

Ok thanks.
From now on, as a non-native English speaker, besides trying to transform my thoughts in sentences, I have to strive to do it in a manner that does not tick your boxes (whatever that means[:)])....

I blame it on texting shorthand myself. The cell phone texting is the beginning of the end of proper spelling in the English world![:D]

The English language evolves, it adapts and it's end is as yet unwritten.[8D]

And the moral of WitE is:

Never invade Russia, or start any land war in Asia for that matter.

I agree with the OP. And I'll add to the list "corp" for "corps,"

and "your" for "you're,"

and "there" for "their" and "they're,"

and "definately" for "definitely,"

and "it's" for "its,"

and most of all, using a damn apostrophe when making a plural! ... as in "I am using the German's to invade the Ukraine with their tank's and gun's."

What an unnessary discussion!
The word "moral" is the original German word for the correct one "morale" in English.
I think, as the attackers, they have their own right to use their own "Moral"!

Nice. [:)]

The main point is that the value of English is that, despite any 'errors' (see above,) it can still be understood and the morale here is that people express their views and can be understood, however it is written.
