Task forces break off...
needless to say that Rainer doesn´t want me to build up Tawi Tawi as it directly threats the bases around Brunei but it´s all too late already, I can move troops in by fast transport (one mission carries some 100 engineers) and with my LCT convoys... so he´s now trying to send in some light surface assets to tangle with my landing crafts but first he has to fight my three PT squadrons... since my PT all got radar now, they prove to be a better weapon than they have done earlier as they are not going to be surprised anymore... first fight, first hit on an enemy destroyer... the third squadron wasn´t as succesful but trading a dozen PT/LCT for two enemy destroyers is something I would do every day... guess the result was bad enough not to see the Japanese returning again... reinforcements will go on as planned and new PTs are on their way from Cotabato... I could create them at Tawi Tawi already but I´m not a fan of the "we lost a dozen PT during the night... "click"... there you go with 12 brand new ones" so I´m at least bringing them in from a bigger built up base...

the B-29 return to Palembang again and hit both the airfield and port... this should bring more Japanese troops and aircraft to Palembang to defend the place and should make it harder for some time to pick up fuel from the main fuel center of the Japanese... I am not planning and flying these attacks forever because Palembang´s oil is going to be lost for the Japanese in a couple of months anyway as we´re closing in fast into areas to completely cut off the SRA´s fuel production from Japan...

next attack at Babeldaob, we take down another fort but losses for the attacking units were severe... as you can see, 4th Guards div is reinforcing the defenders and as it looks now our attacks is pretty much stalled... damn, first real invasion that is going to take months to take the place... I have ordered a couple of units to prep for this target now, but they won´t be available until August as I just can´t land there without 100% preparation, no matter if there are several divisions on the island already... that would have been a huge improvement too if something like beachheads would have made it into the design...

taking Talaud is only a small consolation prize for failing on Babeldaob... I´m only glad that my main route of advance isn´t going through Babeldaob and isn´t really aiming at the Marianas, Babeldaob is more like clearing the Eastern flank while also destroying a good number of enemy troops again...
