Second Front game.....

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Yep! Played that!

I always wondered about the name though... Isn't the second front the invasion of France that Stalin always was nagging about?

BTW the East Front is the real thing! The west front is a bit like Spain in the Napoleonic wars - basically a backyard thing that distracts from the real action.

"Backyard thing" seems just a tad harsh... Essentially accept what you are saying (The Russian Front was the land daddy in WWII and indeed ever) but, I don't think either the Peninsular or the War in the West were exactly insignificant and each played their part in the outcome in the east.

Great game with lots of (optional) depth, played it lots and lots on my Amiga. Too much really. But that was years ago in the early nineties.

Hence my never-ending bitching about stuff like lack of manual production control that is missing in WiTE [:D]

Great game and IT DID INCLUDE CHANGEABLE PRODUCTION! Even if simple I did enjoy it. Much better than West Front which had fixed production.

I am happy to find that in WITE you can change aircraft type in squadrons. Sadly I cannot say the same about AFVs. Best thing is that there is an editor to change the production a bit before each game. But be carefull or you will miss some equipment later in your game. The latest patch 1.03 vrs 3 helps a lot with AC.

Yes I did buy the WITE after all.

Agree- I spent many a happy hour listening to bread (oh the soothing sounds) and plotting pre internet patched nasty moves!
Harmlessly passing your time in the grassland away;
Only dimly aware of a certain unease in the air.
You better watch out,
There may be dogs about
I've looked over Iraq, and i have seen
Things are not what they seem.
