Isolated supermen bug introduced by 1.03 beta3?

Post by CharonJr »

Something strange happened when I took a look at the new beta:

Instead of isolated units getting weaker they seem to get some crazy CV modifications during combat, 2 isolated Soviet divisions managed to defeat a panzerdivision by having the CV multiplied by 74, seems a bit high to me ;)

Just fooled around a bit more, not only isolated units behave this way, a cav division has no problems forcing a German mot division to retreat on turn 1 - German CV of 77 gets modified to 71 (ok, looks fine), but the Soviet CV of 6 gets modified to 155 (this looks plain wrong ;) ).

Got a save on that where you can duplicate the odd result? Send it to 2by3@2by3games.com. Thanks.

Still have the game open and the same happens basically on every Soviet attack. Will try to save and restart/reload and check if this keeps happening.

I just started a new Challenging game and ran through the opening sequence and didn't see anything like you are getting CharonJr. That's quite the "What if" you've got going on, and now we know the answer, lol.

Still works like this after reloading, have send the save - strange, will try to install the patch again, maybe something got broken while patching (but I got no errors).

Hmm, strange, same results even after a complete reinstall, might be something with my PC/software then.

And another thing I noticed, the results always seems to end between 3:1 to 4:1, even when attacking a huge stack with a single division, CV 5 ended up as close to 6k when I tried to attack a large stack.

Tried the Road to Minsk as well, no problems there, the '42 GC is fine as well, it seems like only the '41 GC is affected.

And some more information which might help:

I played in windowed mode here and noticed that during the AI logistics phase the program is shown as "not responding" ("keine Rückmeldung" - not sure what the English error message would be), it never does this with any of the scenarios where everything works fine.

It seems to me that whatever causes the program to "not respond" for about 10 seconds is the reason for my problems.

There is a bug. We are looking at it now and trying to figure out exactly what it is and what it impacts. We'll let you know once we figure it out, thanks.

My opponent Solon is about to get my axis T1 turn. So I hope doesn't start and we'll wait for hotfix.

I'm sure Joel and crew are on top of it soon.

Yeah, was actually thinking about pm'ing bwheately for a game. Think that caused my typo in earlier post. But one game might be enough for me now and I need to figure out what this bug is all about.

Also, I heard Bill plays one tough Stalin and I'm not sure he'd get a challenge out of my timid Axis play. [8|]

Bill is a very accomplished war game strategist and plays an aggressive defensive style with early sov that keep you on your toes as axis. He'll know your weakness on the line even before you do and he'll be exploiting them quickly.

If you get a little careless with your armored spearheads, you might find yourself with some isolated panzers.

You'll get your money's worth against Bill in any war game for sure!

From what I know this is not at all related to the bug you found. I saw this when game originally came out and it's mem stuff and really doesn't effect game calcs... only that a slight delay in that phase.

This bug only impacts Campaign 41-45 scenario where the Axis is not played by the AI. We're working on a fix. For now I suggest human Soviet players refrain from attacking on turn 1 (normally they can't gain by doing so anyway so they're not missing much).
