Phantom Soviet attacks on the first turn?

Post by similar »

Playing the 1941-45 scenario with beta 3 as Axis against Soviet AI - normal difficulty.

I completed my first turn, and during the Soviet AI turn, there were several phantom Soviet attacks. There were seven land attacks in which the combat report says there were no Soviet units (land or air) actually attacking (the space was blank), but in which I took casualties. I hadn't seen this before beta 3 (I hadn't even seen Soviet attacks on the first turn in previous betas).

Also, I incurred losses during the Soviet turn that don't seem to tally with the losses reported in the combat reports. Perhaps, this is attrition, but in case it's connected with the above, I thought I'd better mention it.
Comparing the Axis loss statistics at the end of my turn to those at the start of my next turn, they looked like this (end of first turn | start of next turn):
Men: 6,915 | 27,764
Guns: 143 | 268
AFV: 41 | 110
Men killed: 6,114 | 12,040
Men captured: 0 | 287
Men disabled: 801 | 15,337
Tallying up the losses from the combat reports for the combats that occurred during the Soviet turn, they only add up to 1,612 men and 36 artillery losses.

Similarly my motor pool seems to have suffered drastically. I had 251k at the end of my turn and 207k at the start of my next term. However, according to the statistics, I had only lost 86 in combat, 775 moving supplies and 1,554 moving units. Does something else explain the 44k difference in the motor pool?

Having said all that it's a great game. There may be a perfectly good explanation for all this that I've missed, so apologies if I'm crying wolf. In case this looks like a bug, I've got the save games from the end of my turn and the start of the next to send if that helps. Thanks.

The same happened to me.

Isolated Soviet AI units are doing suicide attacks against my German forces. They appear as
"phantom" attacks and even causing some casualties! Something is really wrong here.

Adding a screenshot about phantom soviet AI attack here:

Do you have a save before the AI turn where the attacks duplicate? If so, please send to 2by3@2by3games.com. Thanks.

Have had exactly the same thing. Reported it about three days ago, the thread is down towards the bottom of the first page.

I got two saves on this and was able to duplicate it. From the higher level combat message displays it appears the Germans are firing artillery at themselves. Talk about friendly fire! Hopefully Pavel can sort out from the save what's going on. Thanks for the report and saves.
