Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Trey Marshall has been working on three scenarios:

Decision in the Ukraine
September 24, 1943 to May 1944. South part of the map. Covers the German withdrawal behind the Dnepr, Soviet airdrops near Kanev, and the subsequent Soviet offensive through April 44. It is very playable and the Soviet AI with a 10% morale bonus was able to make a somewhat historical advance without the encirclements of course. This game is an armored slugfest and has all of the best units - four SS Panzer Divisions, Grossdeutschland, 2nd Fallschirmjager Division, half of the German armored formations, etc. The Soviets have around 5-6 Tank Armies themselves. The Germans are significantly weakened but their armored formations are still very potent.

Red Army Resurgent
November 19 1942 to mid March 1943. South part of the map. The Soviet counter offensive at Stalingrad.

Typhoon II
A revised Typhoon scenario that has all German units active on the first turn. This also has improved orders of battle.

In addition, Don Lazov has been working on a Battle of Kursk scenario and a Race to the Dnepr scenario that starts with the Kursk situation and goes until the end of 1943. I'm not sure what scenarios are likely to be done first. Trey and Don are welcome to talk about them if they wish and where things stand.
All understanding comes after the fact.

How about a scenario or better yet a new Campaign scenario starting with a Soviet Operation Uranus setup?

All the current campaigns start in the summer. It would be cool to have a campaign start at the Stalingrad historical turning point.

I suspect Axis players may be able to run with wild abandon using the current update, at least against a Soviet AI.
