If True Update wants to download v2.0 again and again.

Post by Marc von Martial »

If True Update tells you that it wants too download v2.0 allthough you´re 100% sure that you allready have upgraded to v2.0, then please try the below workarounds:

1. Download the attached file and unzip it to your UV root directory (where the exe is located). Run True update and see if this helps. The file should not be necessary if you run v.2.0. But you never know.

This should help you allready, however if not then please do a fresh reinstall:

2. First go to your games PATCHES folder. All you patch files are still located there. Backup the v.2.0 patch file to somewhere on your HD.

Also backup your savegame files, you might want to use them again

Now uninstall UV, then go the partition you formerly installed UV too and delete the complete UV folder, some stuff might noth get unistallled completly.

Then do a fresh reinstal from the CD. Once finished, patch to v2.0 by double clicking the formerly backed up UV patch 2.0 installer.

Now run True update. Everything should work fine.

This file will not open

After trying #1 above and downloading the zip patch it won't open. What's up? Should I reinstall V2.0?

Help

Post by Wilson ESQ »

reinstalled UV and still the true update will not work. When I go to UV folder, the true update keeps bringing me back to V2.0 which is the one I have on listed on my game. When I tried your zip in the post above it would not open.

What if we went ahead and installed 2.0 a second time?

Post by tangent »

Is there a problem if we just let True Update install 2.0 a second time?

Should I reinstall everything anyway?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

No, no problem with that.

No need to reinstall but I would recoomend it if you want a clean setup.

Make a fresh install from CD, apply 2.0 then 2.1. If you downloaded patches via TrueUpdate then they got backedup inthe "PATCHES" directory of UV.

TrueUpdate Constant 2.0 DL Fix

Post by tbkingsbury »

This may be causing the constant 2.0 update loop for some people. I just bought UV and the version on the CD is 2.0... That would seem to be fine, but Trueupdate still wanted to dl 2.0 all the time, EVEN AFTER YOUR file was downloaded and unzipped. The problem, I discovered, was very simple!!! The "settings.ini" file which had been installed from the CD was showing VERSION 1.40!!!!! I changed this to "2.00" in Notepad, and then Trueupdate worked fine, downloading 2.10, and then 2.11... Please get this on the various boards as soon as possible to help as many frustrated customers as quickly as possible.

EVEN AFTER YOUR file was downloaded and unzipped.
The "settings.ini" attached to this post has the "v2.0" tag ;)

Marc, my bad... I also posted this on the main board in the thread with the "trueupdate.zip" file which was posted as a fix for dl problems, and DOESN'T contain the "settings.ini" file. I didn't look at the zip file in this thread closely enough to realize that it was just the ini file and not the same as the other zip file. Sorry for the confusion.

Doing a complete Uninstall to fix 2.0 patch loop?

I am stuck in the loop after downloading the file. Let me get this straight, I am to delete all of UV except for the UV patch 2.0 AND the patch 2.0 installer?

I just have a really bad feeling about this. The idea of doing a complete uninstall seems a bit "drastic" to solve this problem.

Necessarily not. This "fresh reeinstall" suggestions is only when nothing else helps. If you have unzipped the file attached to this email (settings.ini) in the UV roort directory , then everything should work fine and you don´t need a reinstal.
