LV Complete

I finished the campaign today. Playing mostly on weekends, it took me about 4 months. Unfortunately, I finished in a Draw.

I was involved in, approximately, 40-45 battles. The last third were very difficult, indeed. I probably had 5 DV's in the last 20 battles, most were draws.

My next endeavor is to create some of my own scenarios, it will give me time to heal this bruised ego:D and brush up on design.

Do you still have some battles in mind worth remembering in Lost Victories MegaCam (no matter good or bad)? Any particular issues or things that you liked very much?

Kiev, and the battles in and around Kiev were mild in comparison to the later battles.

Hmmm, I can definitely say the toughest battle was Fort Stalin. That was an absolute massacre :mad. I lost so many men just probing and trying to find a weakness in the defense I had no time to do anything but link up after capturing the fort, and make a last ditch push for the far fortress. I had used smoke profusely in the opening turns and exhausted it within the first 10 turns. But what can you do?

I can't remember the name of one of my favorites, wish I did, cause I'd pat the designer on the back. It was a large scenario, with Soviet counterattacks from I believe 3 different directions! It was turn 19 or 20 before I could breath! Every time I thought that I had successfully fended off a counterattack, another fire would have to be put out on another sector of the battlefield.

Dubno was a fun one! The number of armored units made that one of my favorites. That was the scenario I was able to use my 88's most effectively:D. Can you imagine the disbelief when rounds bounced of some of the KV's?

The scenario I'm most proud of was the Light Brigade. I guess I took the history lesson to heart, and used terrain to maximum effect. I was able to shield my best units, and quickly flank the fixed positions, and capture those precious victory hexes.

Well, that's all I can remember offhand. Be glad to fill in some gaps when I can come up with more.

The Light Brigade was the one I enjoyed the most making. I saw a great opportunity to tie the Crimean War in with the campaign by putting in the history of the charge and of course Lord Tennyson's immortal poem. I even got chills recording it and then writing about Vebber standing at the opposite end of the valley looking back nearly 90 years.

It looks like you took the road to The Crimea after a draw in one of the Kiev battles. That is the only way you could have been reassigned. If you ran into the sheep at Preobrezhenka with Wittmann and Meyer then you did choose the Crimea

Hmm, sheep? You may be right, Brent, but I can't remember any sheep....all I know is it was cold as hell, and I was facing long odds in every battle.
