Support Unit Question

Do support units, when they are attached, take on the properties of the unit they are attached to?

For example:

Support Unit attached to GUARD Or SS unit: Will that support unit now have ELITE properties?

Support Unit attached to German Mtn. Div in Winter: Does that unit become "Winterized" like the Mountain troops?

A support unit has it's own experience level and morale level, so it performs the same where-ever it is.

Obviously higher exp & morale su's peform better.

As you play the Soviets as well, I'll say...SU's do gain Guard Status after winning a number of battles

Manual only mentions axis ground elements becoming damaged because of ''first winter rule''

so i guess the SU's are not immune

But I wonder if SU's are immune, if they are attached to a Mountain Unit. Anyone know?

I have seen it suggested to attach support units to the German mountain divs to give them winterization and it was mentioned stugs worked well for that purpose so I would assume they become immune from the special Axis blizzard effects.

Another question: Are SU's in Fortified Regions that surrender permanently eliminated?  I saw that SU's attached to eliminated divisions come back when the division is re-created, in 'cadre' form.
