1943 Campaign as Allies

Just purchased and finished (so far) 11 days of the Allied BTR campaign.

Interesting game and getting the interface and mechanics to work for me is a challenge. Trying NOT to micromanage but still get decent results.
Score is 2 4 9

I do have one question. Are there restrictions on the 8th and 9th AF in regards to Selecting and bombing targets in France?

There shouldnt be, at this point you could have AVALANCHE restrictions for the Mid east air forces.

PS, you have to micromanage but be careful of the game deciding what aircraft to use and what base to fly from.

I let the AI run my recce, and manage any specific targets they are missing

I agree that micromanagement is the optimal solution - just not ready to give up on my macro approach.

I was letting the computer plot raids by Air Force Group and it was only selecting targets in Germany and Holland for the 8th and 9th Air Force and ignoring the closer ports, rails, factories in France. That is why I asked.

Back to my Macro approach (probably doomed to failure - but determined to try).

You could try using the "Set bomber Targets" option to auto-plot raids and set the "max range" to something reasonable to prevent the computer plotting suicidal raids.

If you don't like that idea then at least take solace in the fact that the 8th can take a surprising amount of losses and keep going.

That is basically what I am doing, except I do auto by group - setting a target for each group (AF), give them the once over and let them fly (All after setting cloud max, morale, max, Range max - like 200-300 to stay within early escort ranges, dam max). And I have learned a recon trick of choosing a target type - plot recon for the AF - change to another target type - plot recon for the AF and so on. That way I can auto recon 3 or 4 target types per AF per turn quickly (assuming the assets (planes) are available.

Having a lot of fun but the computer seems to avoid selecting targets in France (for the 8th and 9th) Time AUG 1943. Like avionics factories. Says not enough resources so I keep increasing the range and when a target in Germany comes in range it will plot the mission. Which sort of limits the automated or macro approach I was trying. But I have not given up and in the end will probably need to mix macro and micro (just want to minimize the micro).

I mean it is a great game - but I want to finish it in a reasonable amount of time - like a couple months - so I need some macro. (Can you tell there is some economics theory in my background)
