Possible minor Air Night Attack bug 1.03 Beta 4

Post by Uhtred »

I loaded up the "Road to Minsk" scenario, and noticed the following.

Attached to the 13th LW base are elements of ZG 26. I noticed that Stab/ZG 26 is defaulted to night attacks. I thought Oh, ok I'll launch a night air raid just for fun. To give some more punch, I also assigned II./ZG 26 to night missions "yes". However, I was unable to manually select these two units to carry out any kind of night mission, even though it was the very first mission of the turn. Oddly enough, the whole map is shaded rose colored as well. That is to say, they don't show up in the form of aircraft in range to carry out an attack. If assign other units such as a Stuka unit, they can be assined to attack at night without any problems.

Any ideas or did I find a bug?

Could it have something to do with the aircraft type (Bf110C in this case) not being allowed to fly night missions? It's weird, because the won't fly any manually selected night missions at all, but they will fly attack ground unit missions, if you simply select mission type and then the target. They they will fly the mission.

There's also another unit in the south that's even designated as a night squadron and outfitted with old Go 145s that also appears unable to fly any night missions at all. This is true even when the aircraft doctrines are set very low to allow a minimum of aircraft to fly missions.

Are night missions just buggy in general?

I switched the unit to night missions along with a few bomber groups and could not fly a night mission on turn 1. On turn 2 I was able to fly a night mission with the units I had switched. The original rules were when you switched mission type from Day to Night the unit could not fly the new mission until the next turn, but I thought we had changed that in one of the patches. I also noticed that the GO145C is still a recon plane, when we had listed this as changed to a tactical bomber, so I need to look into that. Thanks for the report.
