Interesting movie

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

That was great! Thank you!

I did some looking and there are some good Soviet movies that have come out in the last few years about the start of the war. I hope some make it to a site with English subtitles.

I like how the mortar/grenade rounds don't have enough concussion to bother the poor goats. This movie is equally well done and cheesy simultaneously.

Either Russia had a secret armored war goat program, or the obvious lack of quality control in German armament factories goes a long way to explaining why my troops can't survive until the March thaw.

Interesting movie.

It seems Russian goats are invulnerable to grenades or artillery shells, even when they land next to them and a similar grenade kills about 4 men shortly afterwards. They're going a long way to ensure they'll get a "no animals were harmed during the making of this movie" credential.

It also seems to have been standard Wehrmacht operational practice to move in armoured vehicles as if "buttoned up" (no men on the outside) but with all hatches open. German soldiers also can't hit the broad side of a barn even from 20 meters away.

Ju 87's are also about as capable of hitting something as they are in the game, although they don't drop out of the air like flies in the process like they do in the game.
