Air Combat - 2.1 OUCH!!!!!!

I had in my most recent game (camapign # 17, beginning of may '42) twice that in an attack on Pt Moresby my escorts didn't show up. Twice the Betty's and Nell's went in without escort and were chewed up badly, even by P-39's and P-400's (losing 23 bombers in the first raid, 10 in the second).

The fact that I lose that many is not so strange (both structurally very weak aircraft), but it is strange that my Zero's didn't show up. I had 25 of them available, with only 20% CAP over Rabaul, so between 15 and 20 should have flown with the bombers.

I haven't saved this (or the combat report), but checked available aircraft the next day and saw that I had lost 8 aircraft per squadron bombers.

Has anyone seen this happen? I don't know if this was just a quirk, or "intentionally" by the programm. This way, I am not sure I can send out my bombers again. The Jap bombers really need escorting fighter to keep damage as low as possible.

ahhh, a shame, Cpt King must of Crashed on landing, as he is KIA now, thinking that raid was suppost to hit the landing froce at Luga, but bad weather in the area, so turned to PM instead, the 39/40's had Alt, but the Zeros were able to protect the bombers

the 2 P-40's squadrons were just moved in the other day
75 RAAF got 7 kills
76 RAAF got 17 kills

I have had it happen a disasterous number of times. I have also had attacks where 60-70 Zeros escorted 6 Bettys while 40-50 Bettys stayed home (good morale and low fatigue). While this might seem great, the fatigue of all those Zero pilots (plus the pasting they got from P-39s) means I have to ground the 40-50 Bettys so they don't fly off without escort.

That bloodbath we had over GG yesterday was nasty.
I also noted that my P-40 losses and damaged was greater than reported. They got pasted. (There is some intel for you Sonny).

What kind of experience did your guys have? Mine were 85 for the P-38s/P39s and 72 and 75 for the P-40 sqns, and the fatigue was between 13 and 24 for all sqns.
