Is Field of Glory accessible?

Based on Slitherine’s popular tabletop wargaming system by the same name, Field of Glory now comes to the PC in a faithful adaptation of this acclaimed miniatures wargame! Without the calculations and measurements required for a tabletop game of Field of Glory, the PC version accurately represents Ancient and Medieval combat where you make the important and fun decisions on the battlefield. This forum also supports the Rise of Rome, Storm of Arrows and Immortal Fire expansions to Field of Glory.

Very intuitive interface so getting into actually playing it is not much of an ordeal. Their is a lot of subtlety in the mechanics under the hood. As far as immersion, from my point of view it is more addictive than immersive. The best way to play is multiplayer and the online server makes it very easy to find opponents and set up invitations.

It is definetively accessible (even if the manual is bad).

All true. You would also need to get the RoR expansion to really get the most out of the system. Very intuitive, but there is a dice-roll randomness to the combat, which has been heavily discussed over at Slitherine. So if seeing inferior troops inexplicably winning a few combats drives you crazy, beware. Editor is a dream to use and quite flexible. I just wish they'd work on the AI a bit more. MP is very good, very nice group over there, but they tend to be more experienced. But if I had to choose between FoG and Battlefield Academy, the latter would win every time. Both are excellent games, though. Have fun!
