Scenario 10 Ironman

Post by mudshark »

I am not looking for a game right now but I am curious does anyone play scenario 10 PBEM in order to give the Japanese side a better chance and the Allies a tougher battle? I'm curious to know if no one plays it why not? If people do then I want to start messing with it so maybe my next PBEM game I can give it a shot. :)

Scenario 2 gives Japan more things to play with. Scenario 10, Ironman, was created so the AI would put up a better fight( and it really can ). Not sure anyone would want to try Allies against a Japan in that scenario.

i can say as the allied player, is it not really playable, Japan is unstopable, for a KI-Game ok, for a Pebem not really

I'm starting scene-10 as the Allies in an AI game, I'll let you know how it goes.  Since I'm playing Roy in a current Sc#2 pbem I think I should do fairly well against the AI even in iron-man.  If it goes well I'll play you. OH, and very true what bigbaba says about Roy. He is the best Jap. opponent I have ever played against. We are in March of 1942 and he has yet to make a single mistake. Meanwhile he mercilessly punishes every mistake I have made.

Sdhundt I know how you feel.  I am playing against Runnersan, I am the Allied side and he is on every mistake I make.  Great for learning not so hot for the ego lol.  Playing AI I found leads to bad habits!  I was hoping the Ironman scenario would make it more interesting, as it is the Japanese have no chance of winning in scenario 2, even with the mistakes I'm making I feel no where near defeat. The Allies have the advantage in numbers and quality of forces as time goes on.  I figured the additional forces would make it a lot harder for the allies but not impossible.

Roy and Bigbaba thank you for your replies and the info I greatly appreciate it :)  Roy you sound very skilled as Japanese side, have you ever won as the Japanese side in a PBEM game?

Roy, you are stuck with me for the next four years.  I'll get to many good units to quit.  I have to at least try and bloody your nose plus I'll be intereted to see if you try and invade the west coast.  I'll trade you San Fransico for Sapporo japan  .  I like the beer they make.

Roy I am impressed I didn't think it was winnable as the Japanese side.  I think I am playing Allies poorly but still think I am going to win and I lost two carriers for none of his and its only march 42.

In my game against Roy it's almost April 1942, he has taken PH, Java on the last turn, Burma is his, Ceylon will fall soon, China is a MESS for me and he has most of New Caledonia. I have made several BAD mistakes and the game screwed me twice but besides that Roy's skill has not been matched by any other player I have played. It's ALL about speed, speed and more speed. Every once in a while I might get a jab into his ribs but he just brushes them aside. So if any of you are lucky enough that Roy picks to play you his style of play will help to greatly inprove your own skill. Did I say it's ALL about SPEED !

I just realized no wonder he thinks "Ironman" is so unbalanced, he wins with scenario 2!  Maybe for the less skilled like me it makes it more interesting for the allied opponent.  sdhundt let me know how your trial game works out would you.
