JJ has become accustomed to recon aircraft only at Nadi.....that has just changed. The aggressive B-17 raids have caused them to cease fighter sweeps over Nadi

Hiryu just showed up on the sunk list from the fight for Fiji. I beleive that Zuikaku may also show up soon as two decks almost certianly slipped under based on carrier based "operational losses" in the days around the battle. IIRC Shokaku was reported hit badly in the Fiji fight but had already been sunk in the fight for New Scotland. It was more likely Zuikaku was hit in the Fiji fight. We have had the same problem with Ryujo and Zuiho

One or two more CA's are reported sunk from the New Scotland battles.

The whole thing makes my head hurt trying to remember. I think I wrote it down but my Mayan housekeeper probably thought it was a laundry list and put it in the drawer with my Allen wrenches...wherever they are.

So that's 4, out of 8-ish. I wonder who those gits west of Perth were then? Seems a lot to risk for some merchies. Chacun son goût I guess.

How long does it take before you can be sure that they are actually sunk? Is it a fixed period or variable?

She probably thought it was a list of Japanese hookers you were to rendezvous with in Vegas and hid it so you wouldn't get in trouble with the Mrs.

I took the risk anyway but couldn't get through the whole list. After "Frying Dragon" got done with me I had to cancel out on "Fortunate Crane". I just wanted an ice pack.

I would wager that was Admirar Rord David-san with Akagi and Kaga, from whom we have not heard for some time. Maybe next time he tries that he will run into the Combined Fleet and a there will be heap big banyan. When it is time for Weasel, if we could attrit Port Headland airfield by air before pushing off and lead with the transports, we might be able to bait down Kaga and Akagi and score a 7 on 2 carrier fight far away from Koepang and Darwin and the other big Jap bases.. My guess is they have divided the remaining carriers between commands. We could show the US carriers in the South Pacific shortly beforehand and then send them towad Perth. It would be reasonable for JJ to assume that Port Headland was our main target. If our effort looked feeble enough it might excite their predator-prey instincts. [:)]

Of course, they could be baiting us with the 2 carrier raid but I think not as there was at least one carrier (Shokaku) and probably 2 in Noumea Harbor as of July 20.

By ra way. Port Headland has 10 units of Little Yellow Bastards. It might take more than East Africa Brigade to take it.

Perhaps Derby is poorly guarded. JJ has not built up the airfield there. My guess is Port Headland is going to have CD guns and serious fortifications by now.

You know you sunk something when you suddenly see a bunch of carrier a/c show up as ground losses. As previously mentioned, when the actual ship name shows up can be a long time.

If you refer to his Imperial majesty's HIJMS fleet of aircraft carriers, you're mistaken, round eyes. It wouldn't be hard to put together some 13+ flight decks by mid-summer 1942, but before the Unryus roll out in late 1943.
Chacun son goût I guess.
You and your son have gout? I'm sorry to hear that. I confess that I am puzzled why you chose to share that information here and in this context though.

Hmmm...the plot thickens. Looks like he's massively reinforced Hedland. What's Geraldton looking like then?

I don't know what to say Admiral Lord Sprior. We sweat and revise and revise and sweat to achieve a stream of consciousness style in the fashion of Joyce and Dos Pasos and Kerouac and they just don't get it. It's like taking pre-school kids to a Holst concert. They can take it for about 45 seconds before they want to go play in the sink the men's room or get some Jolly Ranchers at the "candy counter".

Honestly, I'm not sure I could last more than 90 seconds myself, then I would fake a page or something and go get a drink. [:)]

Wacht am Palembang

Post by Cap Mandrake »

We are not really going to attack in Sumatra. I just put up the title to creep out the Imperial High Command. [:D]

What really happened is the Mayan knew it was close to Stalker Girl's birthday and I think my sister-in-law told the Mayan how old Stalker Girl is ...so I pick up the Mayan at my sister-in-law's house and we are driving home and she says something like "Doctor! Me parece que Stalker Girl es mas vieja que {redacted}"...or..."It seems to me that Stalker Girl is older than {redacted}" [X(]

Santa Maria! (We are back to me talking) That is absolutely nuclear. It like banging together two subcritical pieces of U-235! I didn't tell Stalker Girl, though I was tempted because I really do enjoy girl fights. I was; however, worried about liability after I cancelled my umbrella policy.

Anyway, when we get home the Mayan says to Stalker Girl, "Joo boortday?"

Stalker Girl replies; "Yes Savina, {redacted}"

"Yo tengo {redacted + dos}" and smiles broadly (from my perspective this was a clearly meant as a challenge, a sort of "look how much better preserved I am").

I am standing over in the corner making myself a Hendrick's martini just waiting to see the flash of blue light when criticality is reached. Then the phone rang and the control rods were dropped.
