Panther upgrade problem

Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: The German-Soviet War 1941-1945 is a turn-based World War II strategy game stretching across the entire Eastern Front. Gamers can engage in an epic campaign, including division-sized battles with realistic and historical terrain, weather, orders of battle, logistics and combat results.

The critically and fan-acclaimed Eastern Front mega-game Gary Grigsby’s War in the East just got bigger and better with Gary Grigsby’s War in the East: Don to the Danube! This expansion to the award-winning War in the East comes with a wide array of later war scenarios ranging from short but intense 6 turn bouts like the Battle for Kharkov (1942) to immense 37-turn engagements taking place across multiple nations like Drama on the Danube (Summer 1944 – Spring 1945).

Panther upgrade problem

Post by bstarr »

big problem - unless I'm reading something wrong in the campaign game Panther D upgrades to Panther A instead of the other way around. this means you get a couple of months of 60 nice panthers a turn until September when it will drop to 8 crappy panthers a turn until G comes around.

I hate to be a whiner, but please tell me this is save-patchable I'm really tired of playing the first two months.

The Ausf D (1/43 - 9/43, 842 Produced) came before the Ausf A (8/43 - 6/44, 2192 Produced), then the Ausf G (3/44 - 4/45, 2953 Produced), and Ausf D factories convert to Ausf A factories.

Is the conversion time from D to A causing the shortages, then?

More than likely.

This isn't a mistake. Panther A *is* the upgrade to Panther D.

I know that's confusing to Ostfront noobs, but check out the Wiki or something. It'll explain how/why this happened.

Production by type

Model Number Date

Proto 2 11/42
Ausf. D 842 1/43 to 9/43
Ausf. A 2,192 8/43 to 6/44
Ausf. G 2,953 3/44 to 4/45

Should have made the PantherD 14 months earlier - that way the engine fires couldhave warmed troops in the first winter.

Now THAT is funny. I was just surprised when III Pz Div upgraded while I gave it some rest. I might give more Pz Divs some rest when they are at CV 4 :)

I knew when we were building the ground elements that people who didn't minor in "AFV designs of World War II" were going to find some of this stuff a bit confusing. Trust me, if the Panther D coming before the Panther A is the only thing you find mystifying you are not doing too bad.

By the time we get to War in the West and you are trying to puzzle through all the different variations of the Sherman tank, the Germans will look positively rational.[;)]
