Second AE Tournement

Post by Canoerebel »

Gents,

Several folks have expressed an interest in another tourment as they missed their chance to enter the first one. If you are interested, state so here. If we make some progress in filling the slots (we need eight), I'll get it started. I'll even try to think of a prize, since I'm still trying to think of one for the tournament that's ongoing now.

For rules, see the First Tournament thread on this page. Rules will be the same unless I change them on a whim or for a good reason.

Sincerely,

Canoe "I've found a new calling" Rebel

Congratulations on your new calling, Canoerebel. Just one question: what's a "Tournement"? [&:]

It takes talent to misspell "tournament" twice in the title and first sentence of a post. By now it must be clear that I intentionally misspell words to throw you guys off. I really don't want you to know how talented an editor and writer I am, because then you might fawn over me. That would make me quite uncomfortable, because I am by nature a retiring and modest soul who doesn't require reinforcement in order to maintain his winsome and rugged demeanor.

Well there are certain words that are spelled differently in the UK than in the USA (orthopedic/orthopaedic for example). Perhaps its something similar but only in the South

Southerners do 'tend' to have certain spelling issues.

Naming problems happen a bunch too such as "The War of Northern Aggression," the Battle of Sharpsburg when we ALL know it is Antietam, etc...

Please add me to the list!   This just sounds like too much fun to not give it a shot.  I am ready to be humbled!

In the unlikely event that you don't get enough candidates for the 2nd (I recognize that everyone should get a chance) can early eliminates of the 1st tournament be considered for the 2nd? (Cuttlefish is pretty much whomping me in both our games!)[:D][&:]

Thus far we have two of the eight slots filled:

1. offenseman
2. CapMandrake

We need six more and then I will draw the matchups.

Canoe,

Just thinking that maybe another scenario may be the ticket for the initial cut for this group. All sorts of useful reports are rolling in from the first tournament group at this point. It would be a shame for participants in the second group to get the benefit of the first's lumps.

You know, I was debating commenting or not myself. In addition to the observations of our fowl-mouthed friend, the coral sea scenario has a pretty large luck-based component.

Of course, the problem is there's not many options for "long/complex enough to let skill win out 80% of the time" and "short enough for a tourney". Maybe we need to engage some scenario designers to create custom tourney scenarios!
