welcome to the community, Saliddry33....and welcome to maintenance [:D]
you can check the details of your expenses on the empire summary screen but from your details I suspect that is the culprit
...Igniting stellar cores....Recharging reactors...Recalibrating hyperdrives....

As Data said, empire stats shows your income/expenses/cashflow.

Income is Colony taxes and tribute from others. Which means - colony taxes. If you adjusted them, or the AI had responsibility and adjusted them due to war upsetting populations, it can explain some moves.

The expenses are:

Ship and Base Maintenance. Retrofitting could up this, but it seems your change was too big for this to be likely. Maybe if you got a larger shipyard, and retrofitted a lot to larger designs.

Troop Maintenance. If you/AI hired much more troops. This can be a quite high number.

Agent Maintenance. You can have max 10 I think, and it should be no more than 10k

Subjugation tribute. You would notice if you were subjugated.

My guess is: Ship building. I guess maintenance kicks in once they are completed. Also newly built bases. Next up is troop recruitment. With no war, I don't see a reason for tax income falling.

Trade, resort bases, space port income are not part of the cashflow, and arrives as "other income". These are more variable, and can make you go in the positives with a negative cashflow.

Hmm, the Ai does this quite often in my DW vanilla games, especially at war. I suspect they just spend a lot on upgrading spaceports, building mining bases and building patrol ships or something. At least in my games it's been mostly that. When your cash is in the + and you have any sort of building on AI control, expect a large expenditure and a massive cash drop all of a sudden. It nearly always happens, except when the AI can't overspend more than you're earning or have in the bank.

ok thx [&o]
lucky as i sometimes are i had made a save and yes the tax dropped from 153k to 76k

some other things may have changed too but that was the biggest part

well seems like playing ai controlled isnt too smart

a lot of new problems and questions woke up but i better make an new topic with new titel

Oh, and it also depends if you have tax rate on auto. The AI drops it as you war weariness increases so you might expend sudden colony income decrease, which might explain your sudden income drops without the AI building.

AI controlled isn't smart? It is the single most AWESOME feature of this game. I never play my games now without some measure of AI control. It makes the games both interesting and surprising sometimes. It's unrealistic for you to control everything all the time. Don't we have mindless bureaucrats in our governments who suddenly decide that the extra hours bonus is too significant and bans it as well? Or they order new roads in a region without any traffic while ignoring the huge need for roads in the overpopulated city...

Besides, it gives the other empires a chance to give you a good gameplay.

Cheers
