RE: Next quiz
General Becker's suicide is correct.
Hitler was paranoid about an ammunition shortage occuring and demanded more stocks. There had been a major, major arms squeeze in 1937 and 1939 due to shortages of raw materials. It was the release of scarce raw materials mid 1939 that allowed a huge increase in production, under Becker.. But Hitler's favourite, Fritz Todt, had just taken leading role over the military ordanance organisation and he got the credit. Military procurement became part of the Todt organisation, away from military control. Becker shot himself.

An easier one. where was this inscription found?
'"We'll die but we'll not leave the fortress". "I'm dying but I won't surrender. Farewell, Motherland. 20.VII.41.'

Well that's embarrassing - is it worse people thinking I thought the siege of Sevastopol was in July 41 (although I suspect December was too early anyway), or confusing V for 10 [8|]?
Personally I think either are sufficiently bad such that there is only decent thing to do. I shall retire from the forums and not show my face in public again.......[;)]

RE: Next quiz
Pending Patchogue deciding on a question or not, I thought I would return to: what WIF counter am I? Five clues coming up one at a time.
Two ships, one well known, one perhaps less so:
Ship 1
Clue 1 - I am not a named vessel in WIF [:(], but given my official type, you could make a case for one.
Ship 2
Clue 1 - I do have my own counter in WIF [:)].

Wild guess. Ship 1 is BB Rodney and ship 2 is BB Nelson.

No to both I'm afraid - WIF has individual counters for all CL's and above so 1 cannot be Rodney.

Okay next clue.
Which Ships In Flames counter am I?
Ship 1
Clue 1 - I am not a named vessel in WIF , but given my official type/designation, you could make a case for one.
Clue 2 - My construction began in 1939, I was completed two years later but was then sunk, just a little over 5 months after entering service.
Ship 2
Clue 1 - I do have my own counter in WIF .
Clue 2 - I was completed just before the outbreak of WWI; but I did not survive WWII.

RE: Next quiz
Ahh okay - should have made clearer - since SIF came out I would never consider not using that option. I will amend the clue - I am talking WIF using SIF.

Yes, I originally said a WIF counter which in my mind I took to mean any counter from the WIF game. It seems (as usual) I have not made myself clear, so:
These ship counter questions assume that all World In Flames optional rules are being used. That is quite an important point re Ship 1, Clue 1.
