stacking limits

Post by Jacopo »

Hello,
unless i have missed something stacking limit is 3 units for hex no matter of what units they are. Right? If it is, there is a clear bug....3 battalions or 3 panzerdivisionen are the same? I would like to see a stacking depending on terrain, total men or total strenght point...not an universal 3 units!

It is a design choice NOT a bug.

Calling something you don't agree with a "bug" is in error.

Bugs programmers can fix.

Design choices are a product of the process of designing any program. Some you will like and some you won't.

And there are a gazillion threads on this with much discussion on both sides. Unfortunately the search doesn't find them.

That was a design decision even before I joined as a tester over 2 years ago. It was brought up a few times since then by the testers, and while the stacking limit remained the same, creation of Soviet Corps were added in to the game as well as increasing the number of support units allowed in urban combat of up to 18 for the defender, adding support units to cities and fortified zones and to Soviet Corps all as a way to help increase unit density where it was thought necessary. So that's pretty much what we have and most likely it won't change anytime soon.

I like it...I mean, hell, it's a game. All games have rules which approximate reality... the important thing is not is the rule exactly accurate but is the EFFECT of the rule, on the simulation, accurate.

For me, the stacking limit says "you can't just willy nilly move cardboard (errr pixels) around and think it's how you move ppl around".

Anyway, I tend to play axis.. stacking limit not really an issue on the western side of the frontier. More like "please god why can't regiments be more useful!"

hehe
I still remember cardboard!
