Why not carrier based AC doing NI?

Post by swatter555 »

Considering the problems I have had with the AI launching unneeded airstrikes on airfields, I thought maybe assigning my carrier based DBs and TPs to NI. I then read that is not a good idea. Why is that?

Hi Brave Man!

Try "Carrier strike", proably SSI product
(I can send You a copy)
You can move every single carrier based plane up and down ... Use the elevators ... Combine airstrikes etc.

Graphics sucks but that's not Quake.

Pacific War is weird and highly randomized so don't expect much of Your will to be used by TF commanders.
There are some ways to limit the randomization but even Jeremy wrote in one of threads that in eyes of "General United Army & Naval Officer" (GUANO) battle results were highly randomly determined.

So maybe all Your aircrew members get drunk and were unable to attack that day ?

Enjoy the war !
And don't play with AI. He's stupid.
the more You play - the less You understand ... :p

From my experience, setting your VB’s and VT’s to NI still doesn’t necessarily solve the problem of attacking enemy TF’s. I believe that I read that setting carrier planes to NI is redundant for attacking TF’s, since VB’s and VT’s will attack ships without being set to “NI”. (See the responses to your previous posts for the most effective way to engage naval forces with carriers.) In addition, I have experienced that setting the VB’s and VT’s will not prevent your Zero’s going off doing their “own thing”, thus squandering your fighters without providing an effective attack with your bombers. Then if an opportunity arises for your bombers to attack enemy TF’s, you don’t have fighters for a proper escort and thus the bombers get waxed.

I have no Idea. When I set my aircraft to NI they never atack anything other than naval targets.
