According to strategical plan I focused my effort on Ukraine – most Soviet forces, biggest industry

I shifted 2 pz corps and part of 1 inf corps south. To balance it out I have taken 1 pz corps from North and attached it to centre.

Kamil mate, don't put too much hope in catching his industries in Ukraine, it can easily be moved, I don't know why you waited till the last moment in that game....

Be interesting to see how this one plays out. I think AGN is not off to a very good start. Both ports in Courland remain in Russian hands and all those units there will be able to pull back and use them to escape. You will see them later.

Lot of destruction in the south, but I wonder with pulling that much 17th Army up and around, who will be left to kill off the pocket?

Should be interesting to see how a "south first" strategy plays out.

I think both pockets in AGS can be broken.

The Kovel pocket definitely, north of the Cav unit.

The Lvov pocket, right on the "N" in "Union". The Mot Div by moving one hex E on one side, and Tank Div moving 1 hex SW on the other, can join their ZOCs in the middle, I think, and break the Lvov pocket. Not that the units will live, but it will make life a bit harder.

In AGN, in order to isolate all the units in Latvia, you need to take the port of Ventspils; otherwise, they aren't isolated, and can actually escape through the port.

It looks like you're not really going to go for Leningrad

Turn 2 - start

With beginning of my second turn I realised that i made many tactical blunders. Belarus and two Ukrainian pockets were broken. More over many of my divisions were cut away from supply.

Now is where breaking down into regiments hurts you. You need full divisions to save your troops and bring them back into supply.

But at least you have 5 mobile div still to go that can start punching holes for you. Each time you make a big leap forward, try and leave at least 1 panzer div close to the "rear" that can ride to the rescue and free up your other isolated troops, who once supply is back will jump in CV and movement so they can either continue forward or ride to the next isolated.

In my second move I tried to break forward (more important) and keep pockets sealed.

Good recovery.  Use those units in the south, you sent them there for a reason!

Again, he broke pockets in Ukraine, what enabled him to get routed units far beyond reach of my forces. Small encirclement near Minsk was over as well.

Especially annoying was situation in north Ukraine. Swamps limited my movements considerable, so I had to maintain considerable force there, that weakened my attacks elsewhere.

I got beaten in one place - Romanian armoured div around Proskurov.

I have to confess that I planned to achieve much much more. Prospects of victory aren't great at the moment.

you have, indeed, got some problems... HOWEVER, I think your opponent has helped. I believe he's moved a security unit into Hungary and, therefore, has activated the whole hungarian army? I can't tell from your screenshot but I think so.

This could be a major advantage. The hungarians are relatively weak but, concentrated, can do damage. I'd keep them all together, probably operating somewere near the middle of AGS, and use them to allow you to get a concentration of infrantry somewhere else -- probably driving on Rostov.

It's a tough game to learn ...you are doing ok so far!

I refused to get distracted by local setbacks and bypassed pockets.

In north and centre I continued plan of consolidation for next big leap, using my mobile forces as little as is possible.

In south I have tried another encirclement.
