Since the Avenger is the US ac, that means we are after a Brit one, so I am wondering about the Avro Lancaster, although it is more "first half" than "around the middle" I suppose.

That's right Terje, we are looking for a British aircraft - but it's not the Lancaster.

Round 4 - I have two clues left but I think both will be giveaways (and I want the giveaway to be the last clue).....mmm - oh well lets try this one.

Which WIF (all options included) aircraft am I?

Aircraft 1:

Clue 1 - I do have a World In Flames Counter and I fought with the Allies
Clue 2 - I entered service around the middle of the war and I saw service in both Europe and the Pacific.
Clue 3 - I was a successful design and I served with all the Dominion air forces and the USSAF, as well as the RAF.
Clue 4 - I am perhaps best known for my work in the Mediterranean and Burma-India theatre.

Is the correct answer - well done Orm [:)] There was only one clue to go, which would have been a dead give-away

Clue 5 - The Japanese give me a suitably sinister nickname that reflected my sterling work against them in the Far East.

I love that aircraft - and WIF gives you three of the beauties [:)]

I've been a fan of the Bristol Beaufighter since my youth. I blame Biggles for that. [:D]

A/c 2 - Ju-86? No I'm not thinking Hitler's son, but maybe a country the Germans sold it to?

Not the aircrafts I am looking for. Is Letov Š-28 a counter in WIF? I had actually never heard of this aircraft so I had to look it up and learned something new. Thank you. [:)]
