What's your favorite warship?

Post by showboat1 »

Mine was, is, and forever will be the USS North Carolina BB-55. I am the proud grandson of SF3C Billy B. New, crewmember 1943-1946.

I have always loved the lines of some warships

The Bismarck, the King George V and the Iowa class were beautiful ships.
I LIKE that my life bothers them,
Why should I be the only one bothered by it eh.

I also had a deep love for the USS Enterprise CV-6 as a boy. When I was eight my Dad gave me a copy of The Big E by Stafford that I still have.

Hi

The Big E for sure. Those Essex CVs are darn fine ships too.

Carriers are a potent weapon, but they are ugly all the same man, no beauty of line or eye catching symetry.
I LIKE that my life bothers them,
Why should I be the only one bothered by it eh.

or a CG cutter....
I'm essentially graphically and history oriented, unfortunately to connect the two I have to do maths. I hate maths.

I'm going with the Battleship Pennsylvania. The image of the old super dreadnought leading the way in the Phillipines is a classic.

Great pic of the Pennsylvania! I use that one as one of my screensavers  I always liked the looks of the HMS Hood, despite its infamous fate it was a fine looking ship ... and the German cruiser Prinz Eugen looks good too, just like a "mini Bismark" (apparently this resemblance was intentional).

Excellent pictures. :)

Love the lightning pic. What a great shot!

From WW I, i was always a little partial to HMS Princess Royal. I just thought it was a cool name for a warship when I was 7.

That last pic of the Lincoln (the one with the lighting) reminds me of that film The Final Countdown.
