Withdrawl question JFB

Post by Hanzberger »

Just curious on the Japan side of things about withdrawl. I know as the Allies it was just ships to certain ports. With Japan it's LCU's and Planes.
Do they need to be taken to certain bases or do they just magically disappear? I'm hoping for the later. LOL [:'(]
Playing Scen 2 vs Ai currently

Should be the same as for an Allied player.

Some questions related to japanese Airgroup withdrawels:

1)Where do you have to disband the air units? Can they be disbanded everywhere?

2) What's the difference if the group is showing "*" to a "P"?

3) What's the advantage of disbanding? Are the pilots and airframes going to the pool if you disband them?

1. dont have to disband the units scheduled to withdrawal, but you pay PP's each turn. It is rarely worth it for any period of time.
3. voluntary disbanding vs withdrawal 7.2.2 simply put. disband allows backfilling of another same type air unit in the same hex and unit rebuilt from pools in 120 day. withdrawal rebuilt in 60 days planes but planes and pilots go into the pools. involuntary withdrawals / disbands (when ordered by OOB) The unit may or may not be a permanent withdrawal / loss. Just look at the main information screen.

On #2, I believe this was added about two official patches ago. You could check the release notes.

I believe the 'P' just means it's a permanent withdrawl (on the Allied side it means the unit is going to Europe.) The asterisk means it's got a come-back date. But check the Notes.

LCUs just disappear but you have to withdraw or disband the air units.
To build on the question, what happens if the LCU has already been destroyed by the withdrawal date, ie, not even a cadre left? Does the player loses PP or VP?

Pacificbeta - that should not happen. If it does, get it to tech support.

Oh wow, thanks. I think I just talent spotted the early war version of suicide infantry :D

Seriously, there are no repercussions of having such units die out from combat?[&:]

None other than the impacts of losing the units themselves.

If you are running the most recent patch, you can rebu dead infantry units should you choose, except for certain fixed units. It is not a free lunch, because it drains your replacement pools, so choose wisely. Of course, you've been able to rebuy dead air units for some time.

when the ground units withdraw, their devices and squads will often go into the pools.  So you might not want to try th suicide infantry tactic.
