TOE upgrades

Post by michaelm75au »

There seems to be some confusion in when a TOE upgrade takes affect.

Take this example
US Air Base Force (#2400)
In 1945, it wants to upgrade to "USA 45 Air Base Force" (#2401)

Unit #2400 would have the following set:
Upgrade TOE = 2401
Delay = 450101 - this becomes the TOE delay time.

Unit #2401 would have the following set:
Upgrade TOE = 0
Delay = 0 (9999 to be more precise to indicate the end of the chain)

Thus when a unit has a TOE of 2400 and the TOE delay reaches 1/1/1945, then the unit's TOE is changed to #2401.

This is how the code has always behaved.

Yet looking through some of the TOEs and their upgrades, there seems to be a mixture where the delay seems to refer to the upgraded TOE and not the TOE being upgraded.
This has lead to several TOEs that don't seem to be active because the upgrade delay is 9999.

Another example of this
TOE #2431 (Air HQ 41) has a (TOE) delay of 9999 with an upgrade TOE of #2432 (Air HQ 42) with a delay of 420101.
By the code, this upgrade will never happen due to the initial delay of 9999.

So I certainly hope this does not mean a code change to accomdate database inconsistencies...but rather a database review to insure consistency with the code.

Think it's a database review suggestion. Already been done for all the Babes scenarios. If you are based off Babes, you should be ok, here.

MM,

What version / Scen are you looking at? I have the latest version (no beta) of WitP-AE with Scen #1 showing TOE#2431 with an upgrade to #2432 and a delay of 420101, which should fire just fine.

Current
[Edit]

I extracted scen #1 for a closer look, and it seems I have been mixing this up with a test scenario I must have based on an earlier version of scenario #1.

There a a few TOE upgrades with an upgrade date but no TOE to upgrade to. This shouldn't cause any issues though.

Michael - please excuse my enjoyment here at your expense, but it is so good to know that you actually are HUMAN!  [:D]   I was getting concerned that this great game was being programmed by an alien with alternative goals.  (Like sucking the like out of everyone!).

Thanks to the entire WITP AE team for their support!!!

I don't know... it could just be a ploy to make us think he's human. [:D]
