Exe won't run

When I try to install the game I get the following error message: Invalid archive c:\documents
and nothing else happens. Any help appreciated..

Did you install 636 MB install v1.00?

Did you install 27 MB latest v1.03 patch afterwards?

It is the 636MB v1.00 download
Haven't downloaded or installed v1.03 yet as I can't install v1.00 yet because i get the "Invalid archive file name c:\documents" error message. I won't install. Thanks.

Possibly it is corrupt download...

Please try downloading it with some other browser:

MS Internet Explorer
Mozilla Firefox
Apple Safari
Google Chrome


Also try running install with "Run as Administrator"!

with firefox it did

I've downloaded the game using:Safari,Chrome,Firefox,IE and everytime the exe won't run and I get the error message:invalid archive filename c:|documents - which means nothing to me. I'd like to play the game but I'm rapidly losing interest.

Assuming Windows 7:

Right click the Exe. Pick Properties.

At the bottom of the box, are two buttons, the bottom one says Unblock with a blurb about being downloaded from the internet.
Click it.

Try that, it may be the solution to your problem.

No I have XP not Windows 7. I have no idea what the error means and no-one seems to have answer - including Matrix support. Time to give up I guess

Seems as though I recall XP having some kind of "administrator priviliages" problem where programs that weren't run under administrator wouldn't be able to write their files to certain directories.  Maybe if you tried running it as an administrator rather than as a "user" you might have better results.  Either that or upgrade your operating system.  I upgraded to Windows 7 and haven't had the major problems I used to have with XP since.  Just a thought.

Can you try moving the downloaded file to some other place (for example Desktop) and try running it from there?
