Fighter sweeps

Eagle Day to Bombing of the Reich is a improved and enhanced edition of Talonsoft's older Battle of Britain and Bombing the Reich. This updated version represents the best simulation of the air war over Britain and the strategic bombing campaign over Europe that has ever been made.

Fighter sweeps

Post by john_txic »

My Allied fighters regularly shoot-down a/c attempting to land.

However, the German fighters seem to be able to take-off with impunity and then bounce my fighters who are patrolling their 'drome. What am I doing wrong?
The Nazis entered this war under the rather childish delusion that they were going to bomb everyone else, and nobody was going to bomb them. They sowed the wind, and now they are going to reap the whirlwind.

I've never seen fighters "attacking aircraft attempting to take off" so perhaps this is just one of those things. I don't think it works like that although your own fighters may be able to 'have a go' at the enemy as they climb.

Alas, no - they keep circling the airfield, and then get bounced by the fighters that have taken off below them.

I don't know I'm afraid, seems like it's slightly unrealistic that the circling fighters would let the enemy get off the ground and let alone above them! There are of course one or two aspects of the game that perhaps need adjusting but thankfully not too many and the rest of the game more than makes up for these issues in my opinion.

Hope that you manage to find a solution as I must admit that this hasn't caused me to much bother, I tend to have escorts for my fighter sweeps a few thousand feet above anyway - maybe that helps?

And frequently the losses sustained by the axis is exaggerated when shot down attempting to land.

It's a so-so game that could be better.  I believe the entire model/engine needs to be torn down and re-worked.  There is hope for it.
God made man, but Sam Colt made them equal.

there is a report loop bug that reports way too many attacks, shoot downs, that I have been trying to get trapped and removed since the first game came out, but no luck yet

attacking landing planes is a different subset then normal air to air combat, planes taking off, fall into normal combat, they do get jumped and shot down too, but it works both ways, and most times what you may be seeing is the planes over the field, running low on gas and breaking off, and the newly taken off planes getting an advantage in attacking a bingo fuel aircraft (plane is obrit mode, burn fuel much faster then normal flight)

Perhaps there was an attempt to hard-code "The Legend of Y-29"? Only that it's the Luftwaffe getting the breaks this time? [;)]

PS to HS: Hope it is better soon for you, both health and computer-wise.
