mudd results in isolated units?

Post by bodmerm »

all of a sudden when mudd sets in, a lot of my axis forces are isolated close to Leningrad and in the South. Any help?[&:] There is no enemy hex or enemy unit in the rear. Or I cannot find them...

They are not necessarily "isolated" but are out of command range. Keep in mind that the mud increases the movement costs and thus affects the distance a unit can be from its higher command and still be in range.

They can be isolated. When you hit "r" if the units are beyond the grey regions (low supply) and in the black then they are isolated. Happened to me in my AAR, a few hexes beyond Stalino were such.

I seriously need help. As soon snow falls, units get yello and when mud returns, it is all red again and i dont see the reason. Some of these units have 240% fuel and most more tahn 50% supplies. So thats not the point. What is going on??

IIRC you must be more than 50 SP from the nearest railhead.

What does the SP number say on a mouse over?

SP means supply path

If you mouse over a unit the info box will show "off road" MPs. If this number is more than 100 you will be outside the supply range from the nearest rail head.

I am surprised this is happening to units near Leningrad, as you should have got the rail heads close to the city by turn 18.

The first time this happen to me I was not very happy about units with some decent ammo/supplies/fuel losing 3/4 or more of their CV just because they were out range because of the mud. Now that I know it's easier to plan for. But if you're not ready it can be a big problem and catch you off guard and give your opponent a chance to strike at the weakened units.

Just before mud, check your farthest HQs and make sure their supply path is less than 25mp.
