Of course I don't want my opponent, Steve, reading this.

At Petropavlask, a Soviet base with the Soviets activated, I have the following problem.

I can't refuel USN vessels from the port.

The port is a level 3, supplies are 74K and fuel is 54K.

Why?

It could be you are right. I forgot I was a member of this forum and I am going to unsubscribe soon since I no longer have WITP on my computer-once you play AE, it is hard to go back. I dont know why you can't refuel unless there it is hard coded not to refuel US ships in Russian ports. I have never played with Russians activated. Good luck.

What is the date?

There are glitches in the Russians (galore) prior to August 1945. If it is prior to August 1945, the game glitches are probably preventing this refueling from happening.

Sorry i haven't replied sooner, but i have been having computer problems.

It's late July '43.  That puts a crimp into my northern strategy.  If I had only known.  Well I guess that Japanese bases have no such bugs so I'll just have to get some.

Well, actually, you just MIGHT run into a bug/glitch...

For some reason, if you take a base, it doesn't always assign the HQ of the base to the HQ of the units taking the base... there have been instances where (say) a US NorPac unit takes a Japanese base, and then the player is most distressed to find the base is SOVIET! [X(]

i am not sure how often it happens... it sort seems random. Hopefully it won't happen to you.

I've been informed that it is indeed a hard coded item that causes this.

Which? The Pilot Bug? If so: yes - the total number of available slots is exceeded and bad things happen... [:(]

No, I'm referring to the issues with the Soviets. If they're activated before they're hard coded activation there are issues to deal with.

The pilot bug, well it's bound to hurt Steve more than me as my pilot pool far surpasses his in quality and rates.

I think the pilot bug hurts both sides as soon as the total number of slots are filled.

Maybe it should be renamed The Black Plague?

Despite best efforts to keep the # of pilots down the WIA swell the ranks as they don't show in the formations count, if I remember properly.

Yeah - the Soviet bug is a bugger, so to speak... another issue is that the Soviet units get "rebuilt" on the "hard date activation" which means that even units that were previously destroyed get resurrected - sometimes in Japanese captured cities... this can cause considerable consternation for the Japanese. [X(] So, the bug CAN hurt either side, or both - depending on the tactical situation.

I actually found the (AI controlled) Soviet units that reappeared in undefended cities were easier to copy with than those in Japanese garrisoned cities. I had expected the Soviets to reappear in their original locations, and abandoned the invasion of Australia to free troops to protect those cities. When the soviets appeared in garrisoned cities they had to be ground down slowly. When soviets appeared and retook undefended cities they then remained immobile, and surrendered easily when those cities were retaken by the Japanese.
