Can I add an Off-Map Base?

Post by vettim89 »

If a person was so inclined, could the add say a "Central USA" base on the Off-Map track?

There is an off map routing table that connects off map bases to one another.  I don't believe there is any documentation on the format of the file or an editor for it.  If you updated that table, you should be able to add a base.

Thanks Bill.

Wondering if it would be best to put it on-map but just below the off map exit

Just to add to this - if a new off-map base is not a port, but a land base only, then there is no need to add it to the off map link files. Those files are for naval links only. So just adding a new off map base in a land hex should be OK.

I ran into this problem with trying to add in the Monsun U-boats and found a work around...

I went to the hex in the far bottom left corner (just above the WiTP AE logo) and added a simple base using the maphex editor...gave it just enough to fuel and supply the arriving boats and named it 'To Occupied Europe'.

This only works because I only include the Uboats that actually made it past the Cape of Good Hope into the Indian Ocean...any that didn't make it that far don't make it into the game...this lets them arrive more or less on historical time table, but also gives the Allies a crack at them prior to their arriving in the forward sub base of Penang (Georgetown).

Of course you have to make a house rule that 'Occupied Europe can not be attacked...nor can it be used by the Japanese player as anything other than an arrival point for the Monsun boats.

It's not ideal, but it did alleviate the need to do heavy editing of the game files (which I am not even capable of).
