I am a planes in flames counter.

- More of this plane was built abroad under licence than in the home country
- Conceived in 1937, first prototype was in 1939, but production didn't begin until 1943.
- Axis aircraft
- Has night fighter designation on the counter but was never intended as such.
JU88-G

Edit: Those things were vicious. They'd fly parallel to the Allied bomber formation, throw open a side door, and blaze away with a gatling-gun style cannon. An early version of Puff the Magic Dragon but anti-air, not anti-ground.

- This disappointing twin engine plane was the successor to another long range fighter. However the replacement was so poor that the original long range fighter was forced to stay in production throughout the entire war.

Me 210 is the right answer.

Willy Messerschmitt had trouble with sequels. The Me210, Me209 and Me309 all being failures.

Most Me210s were built in Hungry. About 250 production in total. Many never saw any action being used for spare parts for the Me410.

Ugh?

This is the same format as always from me - five clues, each one making the answer clearer than before. The first clue is essentially a lucky guess - nothing more, nothing less......

Of course it was Warspite. [:)]

The Grand Old Lady deserves to be mentioned here a few times.

- WIF has me designated as an armoured corps, although in most of my campaigns and battles I was largely (and in some cases, entirely) an infantry corps.
