Suggestion for Improved Game Play

Post by Beruldsen »

I've been playing this great game for the last 3-4 weeks and have found it a ton of fun and very challenging. However, the learning curve is simply overwhelming. I would a Chief of Staff...which can provide tips, suggestions and reminders. For example...you have replacements...I would suggest a HQ Buildup of XXX Panxer Corps etc. Plus it would suggest how to repair railroads, drop fuel and whole bunch of stuff.

This Chief of Staff could appear at both the beginning or end of turn...

Just a thought.

There is a commanders report already built into the game. I find it very helpful to give it a quick review once or twice each game turn.

I don't mean to seem combative, but i think this would be a terrible idea.
This is a grognard game, and i would be against any dumbing down of it.
As marty_01 pointed out, there is a commanders report that can be very helpful in finding relevant information for planning your turn.
Also there are many AAR's that are worth reading to help you learn the game.

Agree 100% on reading AARs. Lots of lessons to be learned there, both what to do and what not to do.

I tend to turn auto-help off on non-grognard games, so I don't know why we'd need one on a grognard game....

I have nothing against the hints/help/auto-help features of some games, but such features take an incredible number of man-hours to implement. I would much rather see the devs spend those hours on enhancements

Usually those suggestion systems don't do the job very well, and as pompack said, take too long to build.

Write an AAR; you will get tons of free advice

Those of you who played WITP-AE; don't you find the learning curve LESS in this game? This is practically a beer n' pretzel game compared to WITP-AE. Which says alot about what a complex beast WITP-AE is......

I wrote an "introduction" to WITE for the benefit of players who'd played games such as WIF and Europa, on the wiki here:

http://www.witewiki.com/index.php/Getti ... _Wargamers

It'd be useful to have an intro to WITE for WITP-AE players as well. I don't play WITP-AE so I can't comment.

Agreed. Though I must say that the operational learning curve for the Axis is pretty steep in WITE.

I wouldn't mind seeing something like that if it was customizable. I could think of a couple things I'd like to be reminded of from time to time.
