The problem is that Forze Z was spotted near Kendari heading northeast towards Manado
and another small allied TF probabl containing a DD is 8-10 hexes northeast of Manado.
The good news is that I now have a battleship division baby KB in Badeldaob. I order them

Eastern DEI:

A very interesting situation has developed in the Eastern DEI with the appearance of Force Z since the last turn.
You can see in the screenshots the positions of the various taskforces. In this turn, his destroyers near Jolo
attacked one of my invasion taskforces which didn not manage to withdraw to Jolo in time. I lost half of it,
along with 1/3 of a naval guard unit, the other half severely damaged and still containing.
The Kendari Taskforce has unloaded in Jolo successfully. I have 1 CL and 6 DDs coming from the north, they should be there already but I forgot to set them to full speed.

Further south, Force Z headed straight to Ambon, instead of northeast that my intel told me last turn.
But my transports have already unloaded troops and supplies to Ambon and i now have numerically superiority. I ordered
them to shock attack and it should be mine in the next turn. I have Nells and Zeros ready to step in. Betties based in Badeldaob
have Forze Z in their range, but they failed to fly, I can't tell why. I hope they will do so in the next turn.
Also of note, he managed to reinforce Manado, not significantly but maybe enough to beat the SNFL I put there.
He probably has a few DD near Manado heading southeast towards baby KB, which he cannot see. I don't want a surface battle, I want my CVLs to hit Forze Z, while being protected by Tanaka.

I will probably lose some destroyers and transports
next turn, but I hope to have eliminated Force Z and thus gained control of Timor and Celebes Seas. He managed so far to delay the invasions of Manado, Ternate and Kendari.

I am too busy playing the game to update this AAR. We chunk out two turns a day and we now reached December 20th, so I will try to summarize the most important events of the past 5 turns.


SRA:

It seems that things are going better for the Japanese compared to the first 10 days of the war, when I lost 10 destroyers and 3 invasion taskforces were trashed, thankfully they were empty. I don't care much about the transports and my plans were not delayed significantly. I took Ambon and Singawang, which were my primary initial targets. I also sunk PoW and damaged Repulse, which I suspect is being repaired in Sorebaya.

Betties based in Ambon and Singawang are now covering the entire SRA and hopefully all allied naval movement will be stopped. I shipped two air HQs to provide them with torpedoes. I even launched a port strike on Darwin, which had no fighters. I also see no fighters in Palembang, only 25 bombers and some auxiliary. I will trust my intel and launch another port strike on Palembang, we 'll see how it goes.

4th Division is loaded in a mighty invasion fleet and heading to Saigon and from there to Palembang, along with two additional minor invasion flotillas. It's still near Okinawa.


Central Pacific:

- Wake Island fell two turns ago, but its CD guns caused some distress, sinking an AMC and damaging two PBs.
KB returned to Truk and spent two days topping up in fuel, torpedoes, sorties, aircraft and pilots. I sent CV Shokaku to merge with baby KB in the DEI. CV Zuikaku will follow her after she repairs her damage (now 21\8\25).
It will take about 35 days, including the return journey to Kure, to be back in action.

- An invasion fleet has just left Truk and is heading to Rabaul, carrying 144th Inf. Regiment, a SNFL and a base force. Kavieng, Shortlands and Madangs will be invaded simultaneously.
Guards Brigade was also loaded in tranports a few turns ago and is now near Saipan. It's destined to invade port Moresby.
My subs have infested the Solomon Sea. No sign of enemy efforts to reinforce Rabaul or Port Moresby.


Malaya:

- 56th div has finally completed the long journey from the Home Islands to Saigon. The TF carrying it had some very slow transports in it. I made the appropriate arrangements and the invasion of Kuantan is ready to be launched.
I briefly contemplated invading Mersing, but I feared that one division would not be enough if the enemy decided to move his force from Sinagpore north without me being able to reinforce the beachhead.

- 18th div is slowly marching southwest from Kota Bahru, but it's taking forever to move a hex.

- 5th div has reached Alo Star and will attak it next turn. There are some 11000 allied troops in it. I have occupied the surrounding hexes, will that make them more willing to enter my pow camps?
The enemy tried to sneak some AKs and APS into Georgetown, but they are trashed by Betties.


Philippines:

- I took Lingayen and I am moving forces around to take Iba and Cabantuan, which are both empty. The enemy still has 19000 troops in Manilla and 5000 in Bataan, but most of his forces are in Clark Field. I am preparing the entire 14th army for Clark Field.

- There is no allied CAP over Clark Field or Manilla, but my intel is showing that there are still 200 allied aircraft there, an inflated figure for sure, because my airfield attacks don't manage to destroy more than 1 airplane. Now that 3rd division is in Luzon, I hope my airfield attacks will be more effective.


North Pacific:

- Paramushiro-Jima is reinforced with a base force, mined and its forts built up. I want to do the same for Onekotan-Jima, Shimushiri-Jima and Etorufu, but it will take some time and some PPs to buy out engineers to do the job.
Question: if I buy a regiment off Kwantung Army and change its HQ to 27th Army, which is also restricted, will I be able to load it into transports?

- Marcus Island needs a few Mavis but there is none to spare. What people usually do in this case? Leave it completely empty? I really need to watch the "northern route". Perhaps I will move a base force here to offer some protection. The Japanese receive their first Mavis group in April, iirc. I need at least two to create overlapping search arcs from the Kurilles to the Gilberts.


China:

Reshuffling forces to release as much AV as possible is almost done. The Chinese are withdrawing but I am not too eager to chase them yet. A few battles here and there but nothing major yet. I chose to withdraw form Ichang but the enemy did not occupy it, resulting in the loss of 3 VPs. I send 20 AV to garrison and still the Chinese are content to stay put. Most of the action takes place in Manchukuo by the Mongol Army. It has cleared the road leading to Paoting, driving the chinese to rough terrain. 1st Army is ready to move. Its first targets are Tsiantso, Loyang and Chengchow, which are defended by some 120000 Chinese. I can't move to Sian while having them in my left flank.

Looks great. I am still deciding if I want to start a Jap campaign. Never have- the production system seems to be a bit much. You asked about moving a unit in China to another HQ that is restricted. If it has a restricted HQ I don't belive you can load it up and move it. Let a more experienced player answer that... someone surely will.

The tracker is a big help in dealing with the Japanese economy. I wish there was a tutorial, but after a while you can get quite useful info from it. I just learned that China/Manchuria/Korea is short of 60 tons of oil daily, and that Formosa produces 80. I can ship that oil to Shanghai. 60 will be used by local refineries and the rest of it will eventually accumulate in Fusan.

Also, Honshu has just 28 days of resources left before its HI stalls. It needs 110k daily and I am shipping over 200k, so I should be ok.

It was a relatively quite turn. I am still in the process of preparing my next wave of invasions: Kendari-Koepang, Kuantan, Palembang, Rabaul, Port Moresby. The big news today was the fall of Hong Kong.

The Rabaul invasion was delayed by two days due to a mistake I made with the KB. I mistakenly ordered onw of my carriers to stand down and when I changed it back to "readiness" it wasn't available. I wasn't going to head into Rabaul with just three carriers, so I postponed the entire operation.

I am also beginning to see some results from my subs, mostly in the DEI. several allied transports were hit the past few turns, including two tankers and one AP. I also have 12 subs operating around the Fiji Islands, but only 2-3 ships were hit. The rest of my submarine force is around Rabaul/Port Moresby.

That's about it for today.

Overstacking? Do you have other AC @ Legaspi? I think you can have 50 engines per AF level so 50 Betties X 2 engines requires an Airfield level of 2 all by themselves...

Summary of the last 5 turns,
Dec. 22 - Dec 26



Palembang:

- The allied garrison in Palembang has gradually increased in the last 5 turns from 5000 to 20000.
I don't think that the 4th Division alone will be enough to take the base and I am preparing several other
small infantry units for Palembang. The 21st Inf Div is loaded in what AP I can spare to be the 2nd wave.

- The invasion taskforce is currently in Singawang and will hit Palembang in two days.

- An allied transport TF is utterly destroyed by Netties, subs and SCFs. Several APs and TKs are sunk.

- I also sent a minesweeping taskforce comprised by 4 DMS which I left uncapped and was consequently
destroyed by Vilderbeasts based at Palembang.

- Vilderbeasts also attack BB Kongo and BB Haruna, two Zeros take off to protect them, kill severl Vilderbeasts,
but 15 of them manage to evade my fighters, reach my BB and drop several 500Kg bombs on them.
Result:5 System damage to each of my BBs and 10+ Vilderbeasts shot down.


Eastern DEI:

- After dealing with a few allied patrol boats stationed there, Kendari fell quite easily.

- Koepang and Makassar wil lbe invaded in a few days.

- Baby KB is hiding in Badeldaob.


Malaya:

- The 56th Division took Kuantan and two tank regiments are persuing enemy remnants to Kuala Lumpur.
90 Oscars start sweeps and gain air superiority over Singapore.


Philippines:

- Luzon is mine except Bataan, Clark Field and Manilla. The allied garrisons are: 5000, 27 units and 15000 respectively.

- Two infantry regiments took Davao and heading north to Cagayen, which is defended by 10000 allied troops.


Pacific:

- Rabaul fell and Port Moresby is about to be invaded by Guards Brigade. 18 allied transports are
sunk near Port M. by my CAs. KB is heading south for a raid.

- 5 Allied DDs evade my searching arcs and catch one of my AGs near Eniwetok. The Allied taskforce is
currenty north of Badeldaob and threatening my eastern DEI SLOCs. My reaction is to redirect my SLOCs and
order my Mavis' and a Betty group to keep an eye on them. They are still outside Betty range.

- Mauban, Nauru Island, Kavieng, Shortlands, Madang fell.


China:

- 11th Army tried to cross the river east of Sinyang to deal with a strong Chinese concentration there.
It shock attacked and suffered severe losses.

- 1st Army commits two divs and a tank rgt to Tsiaotso. There are 45000 Chinese defending the place.
I lose heavily, the tank rgt is utterly destroyed. There are 75000 Chinese in Loyang and 90000 in Chengsow.
