Gents - out of curiosity two things:

- What is a faber?
- Why do I sometimes see people write UNP in their posts?

Thanks

I think UNP is 'Until next post'?

faber? dunno

i'm relatively new to The Thread, but here's my take...

the term "Faber" gets its name from a long time Thread Brother, Fabertong, who was quite adroit at filling an entire Thread page with posts before anyone else could post...I'm assuming it was to prevent the nefarious Nikademas from sullying the page with foul "Log" post subject lines...a clean page with "THE TRHEAD!!!" subject line without the blasphemous "Log!" subject line (or facsimile thereof) shows great respect for THE THREAD...for this simple act, Brother Fabertong will have a special place at the right hand of THE THREAD when he goes to meet his Thread maker...

so in effect, completing the "Faber" is synonymous with a hat trick in hockey, a turkey in bowling, or the trifecta when dating more than one person at a time...[;)]

Fabertong had no such lofty goals in mind. He was bored. [:D]

Afternoon tithe.

@ warspite1:

UNP: Unintentional new page-it just happened.

INP: Intentional new page. Frequently done by spammers (cough) Onime (cough) to have their post up at the top of the fresh new page.

FABER: Kwik E Mart is right on this one. Using all 30 posts on a page-top to bottom-with no interruption. rtrapasso's attempt earlier was a Faberus interuptus. There's no credit for 29/30 posts. It is the sworn duty of all THREAD denizens to attempt to break up a Faber in progress.

Still time for some more Gin & Tonics though [8D][:D]
Hoist one for me. And hoist another in memory of Kwik E's head cold. If he can't appreciate it, there's no reason you can't do so on his behalf.

I'd rather fly inside the plane. Maybe I'm spoiled but that doesn't look like a comfortable place to travel.

I just don't understand the Limeys sometimes. The Brize Norton web page is chock full of nice friendly information about the RAF airbase, including pictures of its newest pride and joy transport aircraft. Shiny shiny, new new.

Then there's this bit....

If this were the USAF, we'd use a mechanized device ("truck") or other motorized mover to pull this plane around on the ground. I guess they have found a cheaper source of ground transport...[&:]

ETA: Look at that loafer on the right rope at the end of line. She's not pulling at all! PULL, DAMN YOU, PULL! Where's my lash?

And comfy accommodations, with views that stir and move the soul. From the swaying palms, gentle breezes, and ruby sunsets, over pristine white sandy beaches, of the tropics, to the crystal clarity, stark and granitic simplicity, fresh winds, and lissome beauties of the Med, God has laid out a feast for them who wish to partake of it.

I hope you are having a ball, Per !!! And I hope Kwik E's having a ball too !!!

Thanks, JWE [:)]
