POLL - What 8 things would you like to see next in Distant Worlds?

Distant Worlds is a vast, pausable real-time, 4X space strategy game which models a "living galaxy" with incredible options for replayability and customizability. I don't know if the forums support polls, but the ASPPlayground site has version 3.9 available, whereas this site says 2.4.5 at the bottom of the screen.

It would be cool, but I don't think Erik would reveal any possible new features by means of a poll until they're absolutely certain such new features can be implemented. By which time, there's really no point in polling for it.

Anyway, thankyou everyone for voting so far. I think the poll is starting to take an interesting shape, still lots of competition in the middle of the table.

It would be cool, but I don't think Erik would reveal any possible new features by means of a poll until they're absolutely certain such new features can be implemented. By which time, there's really no point in polling for it.

Good point. Maybe they should not expose new features, maybe we can propose them and poll on them. That way Elliot is free to do what he thinks is best and possible. We only provide an indicator on what we'd like to see....this is by no means mandatory from my point of view, passions aside. [:)]

I'd go with Multiplayer as my first decision and picked some nice other things as 2-7. It feels lonley without buddys

It never ceases to amaze me...the one thing I have no interest in what so ever is winning by a large margin. So...all I ask is that Elliot make it an optional thing, so those of me that don't want to deal with it won't have to. [;)]

Now what I'd most like to see falls under the modding section...the ability to build my own storyline and scenarios. [8D]

I think I just reached the end of yet another game.

The end is when opposition seems low, and the games feels like a grind. Kill space ports, invade planets, squash rebellions, repeat. The game settings are obviously not working. It was for quite a while, though.

And yet again no storyline progress beyond the info buildup. I found the cache with some tech (not as over the top as in the original game, luckily). Last session was war with Ikurro, and the bastards instant rebelled on conquest, including taking control of my invasion forces [&:].

If continuing I guess I should stop with silly invasions and just bomb everything.

Empire borders has really gained alot of votes last couple of days. Giving Personell/characters a run for its money.

Maybe we should also have a closing date for the poll; or have like a master poll where the results for all the polls we're doing can be aggregated.

All good ideas Data. Perhaps these polls are very farsighted and are really providing feedback for DW Series expansion ideas.

What do you think of a poll for next patch request?

Something as near sighted as current target arrow for ship in transit, game option for paused/unpaused opening of windows, correct initial start designs as in the elimination of underpowered designs holding back hyperspeeds, AI empires keeping similiar military strength as neighbours...etc...etc

Perhaps even a standard difficulty slider.

I'm after improvements now!!! Not ideas so large that the amount of programming would justify being an expansion only item.

Kudos for the polls though, it's a great feedback tool.

Good points, you know there's nothing stopping you guys from making some polls too if you like.[8|]

There won't be a closing date for this poll as it's fairer for all the community (some of them only check the forums every couple of weeks) to leave it open for as long as possible (until one of the features gets implemented).

although not the strongest, MP has a very viable stand in there what makes me happy.

What fascinates me is the Nr. 1. This is typical civilization/RPG stuff unless i'm geting it wrong. How this could be Nr. 1 prior to the more important 4x core mechanics like ship travel destination markers/lines and eta. But a vote is a vote.

I think personell/crew/captains characters option is a tad ambiguous. It could be as simple as crew experience, so your crew will gain power the more involved they are. GalCiv did this, but I always felt it was overpowered.

It also includes characters like Captains, Admirals, Generals very similar to spies, only you would assign them to a ship or a fleet or send them on special missions. This sort of system was acheived in Star Wars : Rebellion/Supremacy brilliantly, so it's a good 4x mechanic that adds lots of depth and some good role play elements also.
