I do have a life outside playing WITE, believe it or not, so Poker and business have slowed down the last turn. Should post something tomorrow (Tuesday)

RGR! [:D]

BTW, if you want you can send me the savegame file (I suspect that you are using traditional PBEM) and I can create the large full frontline screenshoot just I make in our WitE Development forum... [:)]

The fight for the bridgehead over the Dnepr is getting quite bloody, and Oleg broke a record by throwing 272,000 men and 7200 guns into the attack. In my games with Flavio, the most I saw was 6500 guns in an attack on Bryansk. 16 rifle squads crawled out of the rubble in that attack. Fortunately I was able to push him back again, but my guys are getting well and truly hammered.

T13. Good news and bad news. 17th Army's defences were strong enough to make Oleg redeploy his mechanised forces, but I don't know where they have gone.

T14: It was quite prophetic that when I sent Turn13 to Oleg I said "I think Turn 13 will be unlucky for me"

In the North the battle for the bridgehead continues but my forces are really weak. If I attack again he still has one turn of clear weather to cross the river again, and I am likely to have mud, so I have to accept that he has established his bridgehead.

T14start: But it is in the Centre that I have my OMG moment. Oleg has redeployed his mechanised forces from the North and the South to threaten 9th and 2nd Army with encirclement. I have to admire this move especially as he has timed it so he has one clear turn to lock the pocket down and then on turn 15 I am mostly likely faced with a mud turn, that will severely limit my options.

I am faced with some very tough choices.

T14End: I decide to go for broke, and commit every unit I have to create a 4 hex wide corridor through to 9th and 2nd army, But I now have no reserves left, nothing. If Oleg uses his last clear turn to get behind my rescue forces I am dead, stone cold dead.

I would get my money back on that kryptonite. Obviously you got a bad batch. [:D]

Just a hammering by the Russians and heavy losses for the Germans. The thing is tho, he appears to be mostly behind schedule in many areas. This is not anything he did or didn't do, but rather expected since the Germans did not try Kursk. That is also some serious damage to the Germans just from those massed deliberate attacks.

The thing is tho, he appears to be mostly behind schedule in many areas.

Mostly in the Ukraine, but he could correct that in the winter too when the Dnepr freezes over. Due to the lavish Soviet AP's, he could launch offensives in some areas, such as the Smolensk area earlier than historical.

He has his bridgehead across the Dnepr in the center, so maybe AGC will take the beating AG A and AG B got historically.

BigA, how are the losses going for both sides?

Good luck with your rescue operation... looks like it's going to be a very close call for 2. and 9. Armees...

Losses at the start of T15. The game has been useful for finding bugs and stuff that needs adjusting, for example, my air reinforcements are arriving without planes so I am having to wait for them to be manufactured - the Armaments and manpower pools are all over the place - the soviets start with 1m. manpower which probably explains why their army has grown by 1.5m in 15turns. His recruitment multiplier drops in the new year, but I doubt this will be enough to get his manpower down to historic levels.

AP balancing is still tricky, the axis get 22 and the Sovs 105 on the first turn. Trying to second guess where they will activate static fronts is hard enough, but I think at the moment the sovs can activate more than the axis can cope with and they can get a momentum that is very hard to stop. Hence my desire to play the "Lost Victories" 1943 variant, as the axis get 300 APs on Turn1 - Luxury absolute luxury![:)]

Big Anorak, sorry to hijack your AAR, but I am not sure you will read what I need to know.

Should I wait for the 1.04 beta thing before blizzard hits? If yes, should I still use your blizzard rule thing?

Thanks in advance.
