CPU underutilized?

Post by och »

Hi,

Playing the campaign against the slowest AI, turn times are getting rather long. I noticed in task manager that the game only utilizes ~20% of the CPU - this is on a laptop core i7. Plenty of free RAM and no other processes hogging the CPU.

I would guess that the AI turn is computation heavy so this seems like a wasted opportunity - anyone else seeing the same?

Hi Och!

Basicly this due to the fact that the AI only utilizes 1 processor... so if you have a quadprocessor a 20-25% should be expected.

Yes in theory its possible to use all processor cores... but this requires some pretty advanced ways of setting up the AI code design. Maybe in a future title.. but its not very high on the priority list at the moment.

And well .... its not called "slowest" for nothing ;)

best,
Vic

OK, thanks for the reply.

Just wanted to make sure it wasn't some issue with my system. But there is definitely time for more than one cup of coffee during the AI turn.
