Question about Resources

Post by EaglePryde »

This is something i haven't very much figured out.

I know that every ship needs it's resources but i don't know where to look to see an overview of my total gathered resources of each kind.

Imho i would like a window on the main UI or atleast in ship construction like "you'll spend x type y resources for this fleet you put in construction"

If my advisor tells me it would be best to construct this and that ship and it would cost me "10000" he doesn't tell me how much resources this would cost nor do i see how much i currently have. It only tells you the money you'd pay for it. This really confuses me a bit. Shouldn't it also say you how much resources this would cost and how many you'd have left? Because if it would cost me all my resources of some kind that i would need somewhere else i wouldn't go after my advisor.

Atleast Strategic Resources are normaly something you'd wanna keep an eye on. They should be displayed in windows where you actually use them.

You can see your stores in the expansion planners. No really quick way to view the situations on your space ports, though.

On the design, you have component summary for the design.
I think you have the same available in the construction area of the space port, but I don't have the game in front of me.

This is a good read that is related to this: http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=2732050

That's correct, Binge, you do have it there as well.

Thank you ver much. This was a nice read and very helpfull. Such things are very practical as tutorial for new players.

Maybe it would be a good idea for someone to open a sticky topic with links to all informations that can help new players like this did for me now [:)]

It may be a good idea. The problem with such a thread is that it is so good there is not a lot to complain about. So it falls to the 4th page of the forum and beyond.

One could do a volunteer thread to keep first post updated, but that is vulnerable to the volunteer disappearing. Even if not sticky it would surface if it is spammed a bit.

That way it is better with some staff controlled thread (mods?) so that multiple people can edit the contents. But it is not a good side effect that work would have to be done by mods/staff.

That's true. It's best left in the hands of a mod.

I am not sure there is a mod here, it is not like there is a lot of reason to mod. It would not be too hard to make a DW-mod on the DW-forums though, that could maintain stuff like that. And of course, a sticky made by a mod is mod material, so other mods may edit it (when the original disappears).
