rbrunsman (Germany)
Gary Tatro (U.S.)
Date: 8/43
Visibility (very far)
The VHs are not worth very much. I believe the victory will go to he who does the most damage to the other.
I chose a random large map and it seems to have all the terrain elements on it: open spaces, hills, towns, woods, etc...
I have made my force selection and await Gary's reply.

Well, Well here we are with a new episode of world cup war talk
I am your host Bob and with me today is Captain Pee Pee.
Well Capt. Pee what do you think of Captain Tatro's chances?
I think he'll get stomped that's what I am thinkin. And by the way it is Capt. Pixel not Capt. Pee. and now that I am thinking about it you YANKS are always talking way toooo fassstttt. Will ya slow down for us southern boys a bit.
Sure thing Capt. Pickle and why do you think that little old Gary Tatro is going to get stomped.
Well he's a YANK isn't he. All us Southern boy's know that them there YANKS can't fight worth sh*t. And its Capt Pixel.
Ok Capt. Puke but why are you so dead set against Captain Tatro did he like crush you in a PBEM game or something?
You shut yer mouth before I punch it in. Yes we played a game and yes I did not do as well as I talk but he suprised me. And its Capt. Pixel!
Suprised you Capt. Priss?
Yes he did, he would not leave his units out in the open, and he had the bad habit of retreating when he was not doing well. How can you kill the enemy if he keeps retreating. That is just not honorable. He should stand up straight and let me shoot him. And godd *mit its Capt. Pixel.
Is that when you changed your name to Capt. Porker?
No dam you I changed it to Pixel cause that was all that was left of my troops when your Capt. Tatro was done with me.
Well that is all time we have for today. Join us next time when the first volleys of artillary are exchanged and both sides sprint for good terran and overwatch postions. This Bob Hildibrand signing off.

Welcome to another episode of world cup war talk
I am your host Bob and back with me today is my good friend Dick? Well Dick what have we for our folks today.
Smoke!
No thanks Dick I gave it up about five years ago.
No Bob Smoke, it is all over the battlefield. It appears that Team USA has decided that a visibility factor of 48 was just to much of an advantage to the Germans and has been dropping smoke like a pigeon dropping poo. With the last turn and the first barage he has covered half of the field with smoke.
Well Dick that is going to make it a little more dificult for him to see.
That is true Bob but I think that is the point. Capt Tatro dropped the smoke all in front of large hills that from my point of view I do not think that he would have been able to get to before Capt. Rbrunsman did.
Well that is really all we have for today. It appears that no shots were fired by either side in this round. Kind of suprising that, but lets wait for round two and see what happens.

You might think I would be excited about the 48 visibility in this match since I'm playing the Germans. However, it is disconcerting when every move you make is spotted by the enemy. Gary is right that no shots were fired in turn 1. It was all I could do to find hiding places for all my Tiger, Panther, SS and FJ companies. In my turn, I didn't spot one of his units.
I appologize for writing my DAR out of order. Gary was quick on the turnaround of the files I sent him last night. I thought I'd be able to get to work in the morning and post my turn.
Maybe in turn 2 the smackdown will heat up a little.

Well, the smackdown didn't start yet. I still can't find where Gary is hiding -- except for bumping one of my recon units into a Greyhound hiding in the smokescreen he created. I took one casualty and retreated.
Allee, Allee, Oxen Free!!! Gary, come out from hiding! I won't hurt you! ...much.
Oh, I can also report that Gary seems to have selected almost all 4.2 inch mortars with his arty allocation. Bunches of them (is it 8?) just keep raining down smoke in a line from north to south, helped out slightly by 2 batteries of M1A1 75mm Pack Howitzers. Gary also has pulled the old trick of popping smoke all over his backfield in an attempt to confuse me about the location of those mortars. However, I am good at triangulation, so he better not sit still for too long or he may see more than just the 75mm howitzer I've been using so far to harrass suspected locations.
Maybe Bob & Dick will witness a stunning surprise assault prepared by Gary...

And here we are with another episode of World Cup War Talk
I am your host Bob and with me today is a special comentator Goblin. Well Mr. Goblin what ahh. Mr. Goblin why are you under the table.
Bright light, too bright!
Ahh ok, hold on a sec while I pull the shades, there is that better? Good. So I was saying what do you think of the battle so far.
Plllueeuh, who can fight in this stuff, to dam bright. Now night time that is the time to fight a battle. Yes, Yes the perfect time. Goblins can sneak around and hide. Goblins like to hide!
All right then, can you give us some commentary on Capt. Rbrunsman's conduct so far.
Well, good like Goblin, hides well. We have only seen bits and pieces of his forces.
I see, well what about Capt Tatro?
Oh, Goblin is thinking that he is a good hider also. I think that they have both taken lessons from the good old Gobsta.
Really?
Yes, anyone that good at hiding must have taken my course "The Art of Army Hiding, a guide to keeping your forces hidden by THE GOBLIN"
Ahh, yes, well can you tell us what has happened in the last round.
Who knows it is too bright to see anything.
Well why don't we look at the replay. Ummhumm, not much there just some recon elements making contact and some more smoke from Capt. Tatro along with a smattering of 75mm artillary from Capt Rbrunsman.
Bah, borring stuff to watch. Not like my book. Here have a copy...
Well that is all we have for today. Join us next time when Capt. Tatro says "Triangla---what? What does that mean? Oh no! In-comming!"

It's a good thing Gary is providing entertainment here, because another turn goes by for me and not much happened again.
Shots were fired finally and I did get small recompense for Gary killing one of my MC squads that I had quite cleverly:rolleyes: hidden in the line of smoke that Gary is laying down from N to S all through the middle of the field. I took out two recon patols that were a little too daring for their own good. Much like several of my Kugelwagens that Gary has gotten.
As the end of the turn smoke falls I see that Gary has reached the southern end of the map with the smoke. What will he do now the that task is complete?

And here we are with another episode of World Cup War Talk
I am your host Bob and back with me today is Dick. Well Dick what do we have for the folks today.
Another rather boring episode of WCWT. We are still seeing mostly recon battles. Some other units are starting to get into the fight. Captain Tatro has used some M4's and Greyhounds and a few M15A's to take out some AT infantry, Motorcycles and one Sdk233. But all in all both Captain Rbrunsman and Captain Tatro are still just probing.
Dick can you tell us about the teams force compositions?
Well from what we have seen it looks like Team Germany is using a lot of very cheep transport vehicles to move small AT infantry patrols and cheep AT guns up to the front to screen and recon. Along with some motorcycle squads. There has to be some meat to the German army, though we have not seen it. This is Panther and Tiger era for the Germans and it would be folish of Captian Rbrunsman not to use these fantastic tanks to his advantage.
What about Team USA?
Well Bob it seems Team USA is sticking to its tried and tested force composition but we will not bore our public with the details today. Join us next time when we here Capt. Rrubnsman say "God I hate American artillary"

"Are you going to do something or just stand there and bleed"
YES I DO! If I fire my OB Arty I can expect an immediate answer of 4.2 inch mortars from the U.S. I can't even shoot and scoot without having to suffer one volley of mortars. Luckily no harm has been done so far.
Well we have started to see the Rangers and HTs that I expected to be swamped with. Now if I could only get them to sit still and quit hiding.
I did manage to get a few HTs and one Ranger squad but at what price? The retaliation I expect from all those hidden and highly mobile forces Gary has could make me sorry I took the risk of getting what was presented to me.
By my calculations, we are almost equal on point tally for kills made even though Gary has killed many more units of mine (mostly Kugelwagens & Kettelkraftens). The **** could really hit the fan on Gary's next turn since we are so close to each other now even though we are still hidden from each other.
Gary's scouts really have good eyesight too. His M15s took out an AT-rifle of mine at 500 yards that I don't think I had moved for 2 turns.
And he sees my AT-guns very easily. Those things usually are impossible for me to see when I face them (read how Brutto-Bob's AT-guns took their toll on me in my last WC round), but I never have any luck when I use them.

And here we are with another episode of World Cup War Talk
I am your host Bob and with me as ussual is Dick. Well Dick bullets have really started to fly havn't they.
They sure have Bob.
Well Dick today we have seen a masterful stroke of bait and switch combined with a superbly executed Blitz.
Well Bob I don't think is was that well executed Captain Tatro lost a couple of valuable units and it took many shots from his M4's and Greyhounds to destroy what he was facing. Which in my opinion was bait for him. Did you see any SS or any GE standard infantry. None at all, all you saw was AT infantry and Ski Troops.
Ski Troops?
Yes Bob Ski Troops, and all our audiance knows what Ski Troops are good for.
Well not much I can say that for sure. So you think that the whole thing was a trap for Captain Tatro and Team USA.
Yes Bob that is what I thinking.
Well if it was Dick, it was a really expensive bait, it cost Captain Rbrunsman 2 PzKpfw-IVd's, 2 Stug40 ausg-G's and a bunch of ski troops shoot up and a bunch of other small units destroyed, along with a 50mm Pak38 ATG. If that was bait, I hate to see what Team Germany has to close the trap with. Well that is all the time we have for today. Join us next time when we find out bait or victim. This is Bob Hildebrand signing off.

Hey Dick?
Yes?
*BANG*
Job opening.
Anyways, I fought Orzel and bought ALOT of ski doofs on a snow map, naturally. Against Soviet tanks. ALOT of them. Once he figured out I had only ski-troops (and therefore could not close assault his tanks) it went worse than it had been going. Did I mention that he had minefields.

WHY DIDN'T SOMEBODY TELL ME SKITROOPS CAN'T ASSAULT AFVs!!! DAMMIT!
OK, that said, things aren't as bad as they might appear after this turn. By my calculations I've only had my *** handed to me in the north. In the south things are more along the lines of a stalemate. Well maybe Gary is doing a little better there too, but I'm not really a German so I'm allowed to show a little optimism.
The next couple turns should be very interesting.
Gary has Rangers (of course), HTs to move them (of course) and tons of M8 Greyhounds and M15 TDs, with only a few Shermans. It is difficult to kill that many targets. You may get one or two, but the rest will swarm all over you like gnats.
I'm going to use this last comment to swear off of AT guns forever, just like I did the last time I used them. They got a grand total of ZERO kills for me during OP Fire.
