I need help with ASW. All of my AWS aircraft dosen't give me the option to use sonar. I've figured out that different ship and aircraft sonar can be turned on or off in the unit and group screen. How do i stop subs from sneaking up on me. I create patrols with vikings and sea hawks, but they only have surface radar capabilities. I'm stuck. Please help. Thanks

Most ASW aircraft don't actually carry onboard sonar sets. Some helicopters do have dipping sonars, which you can activate in the usual manner if they are hovering at VLow altitude. Most ASW aircraft do carry sonobuoys, which they will deploy automatically, but these do not show up on the sensor control screen. If you have your Vikings and Seahawks deployed in formation patrols, they will automatically be using their sonobuoys, and the Seahawks will use their dipping sonars as well if you are using a variant that has them.

Incidentally, it's generally not a good idea to use active sonar on your ships and subs unless you really, really need it or you are sure you've already been located, because using it announces your presence to the world at a much greater range than it can spot targets for you.This is less of an issue for aircraft, since subs generally can't shoot at them.
