And claymores are the shit.  My senior NCOs in the army were Viet-vets and they made sure we knew how to use them.

And that's just the setting I'd like to see them added to in one of our locations.

I'm not sure if these would best be done abstractly or with special mechanics. If special mechanics then the player could place the explosive at the start of the game as well as the controller unit. I supposed the line might be subject to artillery destruction or discovery. If the controller unit is killed then the mine is disabled.

Frankly I've never played any game with large remote controlled mines. Though in modern armor we had rules for off-route mines, AT rockets set up on tripods triggered by some sensor to hit the side of a passing AFV.

Claymore mines are a huge exception to all mine rules. They are carried, placed, and fired by the unit in control of them. They are static but not permanent. They can be set to enemy activity detonation like any other mine but normally are command control detonated.

In Vietnam, they were so successful, the communists copied the mine and used them as well.

The Germans had purpose built artillery shell fuze-replacements that would allow 155mm class shells to be remote-detonated.  Basically screw out the impact fuze and replace with the electrical fuze.  Setting off an ambush with a 155mm HE would certainly blunt an attacking force.  It could either wreck a tank or take out a squad.

Remotely setting off a S-Mine would probably not be 'known' by the enemy.  They would figure it was tripped somehow.  Having a forward LP or OP fire one of these off would allow them to break contact since the attackers would immediately go to ground (we are in a minefield!).

Also, the S-Mine electrical setup appears to allow multiple S-Mines to be remotely controlled by one operator.
