43-45 campaign; manpower question

Post by Aditia »

So, I have seen a lot of comments about German manpower in the 43-45 campaign.

Here is a screenshot of my production screen at the end of turn 5.

Not there is the pool of support elements, which is sitting at like 330k

Isn't that actually a nice pool of rifle squads? Or are most of them disabled? (surely they cannot all be disabled as the 1.2M disabled men had to include a fair chunk of support elements)

In current version (1.03) all elements in the pool are available (if you have manpower). it will change with 1.04 when transit pool will be introduced.

Well, I am rereading BigA's AAR for his 43-45 campaign against Oleg. On his turn 4 he has zero rifle squads in the pool, I have 100k at turn 5, no idea what causes this discrepancy....

100k is not that much. It can be easily caused by the massive refit and/or more aggressive gameplay.

Isn't a 100k almost a million men? I have looked at our casualty figures and they are not dissimilar (which is weird, because my opponent is doing way less attacks than Oleg was)

Sorry for being stupid, I assumed it was numbering rifle squads, not men

Rifle squad numbers DO refer to entire squads, not individual men, dont they?

Rifle squads in the pool are just equipment, they have 0 men. Otherwise you are correct - you need ~1M men to fill those squads.

It took me awhile to get this, but "Rifle Squads" are not 12 men and equipment, it's JUST the equipment. Just crates with new Mausers and Mg-42s in it basically. You need to assign Manpower to USE the guns.

The interesting thing is that Bob's AAR showed that he had plenty of Armaments and Equipment. He had no Manpower. That was his problem.

Tarhunnas's AAR of 1942-45, the Germans have plenty of Manpower (over 800K), but no Armaments whatsoever.

In each case, the Germans are in very bad shape, just in 2 totally different ways. Too bad they can't arrange a trade!

Clearly, some tweaking needs to happen in 1943/44 timeframe on German production

oh dear, and here I was thinking I was in good shape.. Too bad max TOE changes doesn't seem to prompt units to send manpower back to the pool when they are "over strength", but only prevents them from recieving full reinforcements...

OK, so I need more men... I'd like to lower conscription age in 1943 to 14! kthanx =P

So how will the addition of a transit pool change things around BTW?

Yes, just the equipment  - that makes sense. Easy to forget that.

To clarify the figures in the production pool a little more:

We can group elements within the production pool into two groups: a) those elements that are sitting in the pool already attached to the relevent manpower they require, and b) those that are just equipment in crates.

So am I right in saying that group a) would include: all AFVs. All aircraft. The numbers you see in the pool of these essentially have crews sitting in their machines waiting to go to the front.

and group b) would include: all artillery including AA and AT. All infantry squads, whether pioneer, grenadier, motorcycle, or whatever.

Two elements I would be unsure about would be support, and vehicles. Do these, or do they not, when sitting in the pool, already have manpower assigned to them, or are waiting for manpower?

Make equipment rotation slower.
Do these, or do they not, when sitting in the pool, already have manpower assigned to them, or are waiting for manpower?

Vehicles and aircraft do not need manpower, ground elements do.

Thought I remembered reading it would slow the return of damaged squads to the front lines as well? No?
