You can isolate Leningrad quickly if you'll move those panzers up to help 16th army attack that 1-3 motorized division stack. You just have to take that port NW of there to do it. It's wide open. Do not delay.

Its already isolated. Killing it off now. Geeting a few holds however. Pockets are tougher then they used to be!

He got lucky on that combat at least looking at the base a bit.

I agree with Mynok. Don't delay. You got your jackboot on his throat. [;)]

Its only a jackboot on thier throat when you are taking something they dont want you to have. He really has given up the north but I expect he didnt expect this:

The main goal in the south was the T-34 factories at Kharkov. Also managed to grab Belgorod. The SS unit is sorta hung out there but was stuck because of interdiction.

AGC final - Low fuel just keeps things dragging forward. A couple more small pockets form.

AGN final - Leningrad slowly being reduced. Valdai hills overrun. 1 Pz Corps being withdrawn. Im actually not sure how far Im going to push things here. Maybe grab some cities and trash them then withdraw. [&:]

As I watch Larrys play he seems to have some sort of strategic plan but is relying too much on checkerboarding. In some cases its slowing me down but that is in areas where I would have been impacted by fuel shortages anyway. Whether or not abandoning Leningrad was a good move I guess will tell in the long run.

I also am beginning to wonder if his expertise in playing FITE TOAW scenario is impacting his strategic thought.

Ah, I missed that you've gotten to the Svir. Why aren't your Finns heading south ASAP?!? You've got a real opportunity here to put a massive hurting on him.

9 AGS - He wanders back into Belgorod but the manpower is trashed. Ill get it back soon enough. He does have a MLR near here so I wanted to be carefull and not get the SS unit swarmed. 6th army may create a pocket as all the raillines leading out are cut. Another pocket is forming along the river.

9 South overall - Operation Kharkov makes it look like things could get dicier for him sooner rather then later. 2nd army had a few holds which has slowed it down but Nikolaev falls this turn. Also 11th army took Kirovograd.

9 losses - Killed 22 units this turn including 13 inf divisions.

Losses next turn should top 2 million as there are 20 or so units pocketed.

2nd army in the south! [X(] You're definitely doing the south first strategy.

Does that extensive Soviet Line to the west of Moscow curve around to the North and South?

If it doesn't, with the lack of firepower in the North and the South, then its more than likely never going to get used.

2nd army was supposed to be where 9th army is now. 9th army was supposed to be closer to Leningrad. With Leningrad essentially undefended this allowed a shift in axis armies. Now the crimea is on the table. I think a lesson learned here is as a Soviet you need to at least make Leningrad a challenge.

Next turn recon should show more of his extensive MLR.
