Atomic Bomb Problem

1. When I acquire the atomic bombs and equip them on the B-29s they will not attack the targeted Japanese City. I'll have a bunch of atom bombs in my atomic arsenal, all of them equipped on a B-29 squadrons at various bases, but they just don't want to drop them.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I believe only the 509th can drop atomic bomb. It may be hardcoded to only allow this squadron to drop the bomb.

Undocumented, but there's something different going on when AB is selected. I think the target values are altered vs conventional bombs, and if you've already bombed the factories down to nothing, they're not going to drop an AB just to make the rubble bounce. I've seen just one AB attack in all the games I've played, SSI and Matrix.

I played two games into late 45 an even 46 without being able to drop a bomb. I do not know if this game function actually works. There are no political restrictions from attacking a major city.

One key is to sweep the skies over Japan as clear as possible of fighters. It seems the AB mission tends to be called off if significant fighter opposition exists.
