The game will not start

Problem:
After six or eight weeks i want to play the game again, but the game will not start (an Error-message will be send to microsoft).
I installed the game new with the cd, but without success.

Have anybody an idea what i do wrong or what the problem can be?

PC: AMD Athlon(tm) 64X2 DUAL Core Processor 4400+ 2.31 GHz, 1.00 GB RAM

Firewall: Kaspersky Internet Security 11.0.1.400
For two days i have an automatic windowsupdate with 20 updates.

I am running Kapersky with the same rev you have. and have downloaded all of the recent windows updates so I don't think that is the issue. I am runnig an AMD X2 240 processor running @2.8 GHZ with Three GB of ram. Mine is a Compaq (HP) computer with zero mods since I bought it.

No, i have nothing changed.

Other programms run fine, "war in the pacific" as example too.

Same here. From one Day to another the game dont start anymore. dwwin startst and an errormessage goes to windows. Windows XP...
No idea what changed in that short time.

What is the version of the game?
Have you tried renaming the sound and video directories to something like noSound and noVideo?
Try installing and download/installing the latest patch.

I tried it with version vanilla, e and i...always the same.
renaming the sound and viodeo directories also hadnt any effect.
