Unable to save file. Please correct the problem and press “OK”

Post by nickbirkin »

I am playing the allies in the Grand Campaign. I am on the 18th at 18.00 hrs. I cannot get past this battle as I keep getting the following message.
Unable to save file. Please correct the problem and press “OK”
Can anyone help?
Having just downloaded this supposed revamped version for 27 quid I am none too pleased.
Also find it weird having to ask fellow gamers to solve the problem instead of the people who made the money out of selling it to me.
Try finding an email address on the Matrix website to write too.
Rant over![:)][8|]
So any help greatly appriecated.

Which version are you using (# is lower right on the Main screen)?

Helpful if you .zip the saved game file (found in the .../Games/Save folder) and use the 'post reply' function to upload the .zip so the saved game file can be examined.

The problem began on my non updated purchased from the Matrix site last week.
I have updated to 5.61.01b. and it has persisted.
Think I've uploaded the zip....[8D]

Double check your version#. The current version is only at 5.60.51b
Did you happen to update after you started your Grand Campaign?

I got the same error followed by a crash-to-desktop.

Simple typo, am running 5.60.01b
The error occured on the fresh, vanila if you like, download from the Matrix site.
Then I did the upgrade to 5.60.01b and the problem persists with the same save game.
I have not started the allied campaign afresh since the upgrade.
Does that make sense.

Nickbirkin, actually as one of the developers on these projects I can tell you you're posting your questions in the right place. Not only do you have our help for sussing out potential bugs but our fellow CC'ers have lots of experience with the game and can help with many other issues.

There is a free update that fixes this save issue you're seeing. You can download it from the Matrix Club members. It is currently in beta stage but an official update is due out soon that will be made publicly available. Registering for the MC account is very simple. Once you get the account and sign-in to that account you can register your serial number for Last Stand Arnhem and get access to the latest update. It is v51b for LSA.

Also as Xe5 said it's important to not update your game midstream in a campaign or operation. It can create inconsistencies in data in the saved game file that cause problems.

Youll likely need to re-start any operations or campaigns after updating your copy of the game. The update patch wont necessarily 'cure' error issues already 'baked' into a saved game file. As noted above, your uploaded save file still errors for me when using the current 5.60.51b update that Oddball has suggested.

Nickbirkin, If after updating to 51b and restarting your campaign from scratch, you're still seeing this error please report it as it's a new issue that would need to be addressed. If that's what you find any and all details pertaining to your installation, process to reproduce the situation, saved game file, etc. will be necessary to properly find and fix any issues you may encounter. Please let us know if you do. Thanks!
